***This is an internal only opportunity open to staff of South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council***

If you're organised, proactive and able to keep complex programmes moving forward, this is where you can make a real impact.

At South Cambridgeshire District and Cambridge City Councils, we're helping to shape the future of local government across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough through Local Government Reorganisation (LGR). This role sits at the heart of that work, supporting a major transformation programme that will influence how local services are delivered in the future.

What you'll do

This is a key support role providing programme and project support to the Local Government Reorganisation Implementation Team across South Cambridgeshire District Council and Cambridge City Council, helping to ensure effective governance, communication and delivery.

  • Support programme and project governance, reporting and compliance
  • Co-ordinate project information, meetings and programme boards
  • Manage communications, updates and stakeholder engagement
  • Support resource planning and decision-making processes
  • Work with programme teams to improve processes and ways of working
  • Provide administrative support across the LGR Implementation Team

What we're looking for

You'll bring experience of working in a project or programme environment, alongside strong organisational and communication skills.

You'll be confident in:

  • Managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines
  • Supporting projects and maintaining accurate reporting
  • Building relationships with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Communicating clearly and effectively at all levels
  • Working flexibly in a fast-paced and changing environment

This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of the most significant changes affecting local government, working with colleagues and partners to help shape the future of council services across the area.

Why join us?

You’ll be supporting a major programme of change that will shape the future of local government services. This role offers the opportunity to work at the centre of that and make a meaningful contribution to our communities.

Although the role is advertised as full time, if you believe you have the skills and experience to join us and would like to discuss different working patterns, please do get in touch.

As part of South Cambridgeshire District Council, colleagues also benefit from our four-day week approach. We expect employees to deliver 100% of their work in around 85% of their contracted hours, while receiving 100% of their pay. This supports a better work-life balance, alongside the same salary and reduced working hours.

All Council staff can opt into this way of working under our Productivity Policy. We have adopted this model to help attract and retain talented colleagues, improve services, reduce reliance on agency workers, and support overall health and wellbeing.

If you would like further information about the role, please contact Rachel.Kamall@cambridge.gov.uk
