About Haringey

Haringey is a fantastic place to live and work – the world in one borough. A place brimming with creativity, personality, radicalism, and community. It is a place where we stand up for each other. A place that is proudly distinctive. We’ll be celebrating all this and more as the “rebel borough” when we are the 2027 London Borough of Culture.

Our history champions change-makers and everyday rebels; revelling in our differences, battling discrimination, championing equality, and doing things our own way. Haringey’s people are a huge asset, with knowledge, expertise, and passion. Our staff members embody our organisational values: Caring, Creative, Courageous, Collaborative and Community-focused. These values keep us looking forward, ambitious for the future, and continuously striving to do our very best for all of our residents.

About the role

Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives through safe, high-quality housing? We are looking for an Occupancy and Compliance Officer to join our Temporary Accommodation team. In this rewarding role, you will be responsible for inspecting temporary accommodation properties, ensuring compliance with housing and safety standards, monitoring repairs and maintenance, and supporting residents to live in safe and suitable homes. You will work closely with landlords, managing agents, housing colleagues, and partner agencies to maintain excellent accommodation standards while addressing tenancy issues, safeguarding concerns, and occupancy compliance.

About the team

You will join a dedicated and supportive Housing Demand – Temporary Accommodation service within Adult Housing and Health. The team works collaboratively with Rehousing and Lettings, Adult Social Care, Private Sector Licensing, Anti-Social Behaviour services, landlords, managing agents, and other key stakeholders to provide effective housing solutions for residents in need. Together, we are committed to ensuring that temporary accommodation is safe, compliant, well-managed, and responsive to the needs of our communities.

About you

We are looking for a proactive and customer-focused professional with experience working in housing, homelessness, tenancy management, or a related field. You will have a strong understanding of housing legislation, property compliance, and safeguarding responsibilities, alongside the ability to build positive relationships with vulnerable residents and partner organisations. Organised and detail-oriented, you will be confident managing inspections, investigating occupancy concerns, monitoring compliance documentation, and producing accurate reports. A commitment to high service standards, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role
