<h4>Job summary</h4><p>We are looking for a Content Designer who is enthusiastic about user-centred design and wants to make a positive impact in helping to protect residents and improve the safety and standard of all buildings in England. Our ambition is to produce a best-in-class web presence that delivers BSR guidance, content and services that meet user needs.</p><p><strong>Working pattern</strong></p><p>Part-time working hours are available for this role. Flexible working is also available.</p><h4>Job description</h4><p>The government announced on 30 June 2025 that the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) is to become an Arm's Length Body (ALB) of Ministry for Housing, Communities, and Local Government (MHCLG) and will be moved out of HSE. This is the natural next step in the development of the regulator and was always a likely outcome once BSR was established. RIPL is also the provider of the Leptospira acute diagnostic service and the Lyme disease specialist unit diagnostic service. We are UKAS ISO15189 accredited and hold approval to provide IBMS registration and Virology specialist portfolios.</p><p>The post holder will provide support to the laboratory and registered Biomedical Scientists. This will include but is not limited to, specimen reception support, patient data entry and support with performing a wide range of diagnostic assays, utilising both serological and molecular techniques. The team supports the group and the wider HSE in a range of ways including building test equipment for research projects and incident investigations, and collecting and managing evidence from incident sites. <h4>Job summary</h4>Please refer to Job Description<h4>Job description</h4><p><strong>Overview of the job</strong></p><p>The job holder has responsibility for improving prison leavers’ employment outcomes by assessing the work readiness of prisoners and matching them to suitable jobs; working with employer engagement colleagues, DWP and other partners to promote jobs and training opportunities from the prison Employment Hub.</p><p><strong>Summary</strong></p><p>HMPPS have invested significantly in a variety of activities that give prisoners the opportunity to develop work skills and gain experience.</p><p>Employment is managed as part of the Education, Training and Employment pathway, which alongside Finance, Benefit and Debt and a range of support services, provides prisoners with the skills and knowledge to live a law-abiding life after leaving prison.</p><p>A key aspect of this service is to support prison leavers into meaningful, sustained employment on release by working with employers in the community.</p><p>The New Futures Network (NFN) is a national network of employment brokers and industry leads, who work to establish relationships with a range of sector-based employers. The specific aim is to increase the number of prison leavers entering into employment on release. In order for these employers to benefit from the potential labour pool that exists within Prisons in England and Wales, it is essential that work ready candidates are identified pre-release.</p><p>The role of the Prison Employment Lead (PEL) is to identify work-ready prisoners and match them to jobs through face-to- face interventions.</p><p>The Prison Employment Lead will principally be responsible for:</p><p>i. Identifying work ready candidates.</p><p>ii. Referring prisoners to work readiness support.</p><p>iii. Matching work ready candidates to suitable vacancies supplied by the New Futures Network, DWP and other employment.</p><p>This is a non-operational job with line management responsibilities. In order to achieve this, they will:</p><p>• Engage with stakeholders within the prison to establish a system that identifies work ready prisoners and highlights actions needed to support prisoners to achieve work readiness.</p><p>• Work with prison staff and DWP Prison Work Coaches to match work ready candidates to job opportunities from the New Futures Network (NFN), DWP Employment Advisers and National Employer and Partnership Team.</p><p>• Support contracted IAG and Education providers to ensure the prison induction process properly:</p><p>o promotes employment, education and skills training opportunities to prisoners upon arrival at the prison</p><p>o effectively captures information relating to prisoner education, work experience and skills</p><p>o encourages prisoners to develop personal and social skills that improve employability</p><p>• Manage an Employment Hub which centralises employment support services within the prison and promotes live vacancies to prison leavers within the resettlement period.</p><p>• Champion innovations in employment and industry focused recruitment practices, such as hospitality/construction drives etc.</p><p>• Work in partnership with the Prison’s Strategic Employment Advisory Boards to improve systems that support prisoners to develop employability, ensuring they meet commercial needs/standards of employers.</p><p>• Contribute to the Local Partnership Agreement (LPA) with DWP detailing the responsibilities of the PEL, Prison Work Coaches and DWP Employment Advisers and how they will work together at the prison.</p><p>• Organise regular opportunities for NFN, DWP and other stakeholders to bring employers into the prison and facilitate prisoner forums.</p><p>• Work in partnership with Community Offender Management (COM) to ensure prison leaver information is supplied to relevant agencies post release in order to remove duplication.</p><p>• Liaise with COM to ensure prison leavers who require further support on release are signposted to Education, Training and Employment Commissioned Rehabilitative Services (CRS) who can continue to support them on their journey towards meaningful, sustained employment.</p><p>The duties/responsibilities listed above describe the post as it is at present and is not intended to be exhaustive. <h4>Job summary</h4>Please refer to Job Description<h4>Job description</h4><strong>Overview of the job </strong>This is a non-operational job in an establishment.The job holder will be responsible for providing supervision, knowledge and skills to prisoners in non-specialist workshops where no qualifications are being delivered and nor is the job holder deployed in training prisoners up to the required level to gain qualifications.<p><br>This job description is not designed for use by job holders in specialist workshops as the role will not be required to be qualified in a specialist area or to train prisoners up to the required level to gain qualifications. In these circumstances Specialist Production Instructor should be used.<br><br>Although this is a non-operational job in an establishment with no line management responsibilities the job holder will have workshop and prisoner management responsibilities.<br><br>This is a rotational role.</p>Summary The job holder will be committed to prison workshops being places of structure and discipline. The job holder will, as far is reasonably practicable, provide the prisoner with a work experience in workshops that better mirrors the employment experience outside of prison.<p><br>The job holder will ensure that all services are provided to a high standard and that security and control are maintained at all times.<br><br>On an exceptional short term basis. job holders can supervise prisoners in more specialist workshops. For example:<br><br>• Emergency, an unforeseen or sudden occurrence, especially of danger demanding immediate action.<br>• Ad-Hoc use of an Instructor in staffing HMPPS workshops only and not workshops or classrooms normally staffed by employees of any provider other than HMPPS.<br>• Short Term, timeframe 1-5 days, to allow management to put in alternative measures to resolve a workshop staffing problem that did not exist more than 48 hours before.<br></p><strong>Responsibilities, Activities and Duties </strong>The job holder will be required to carry out the following responsibilities, activities and duties:<p>• Participate in the selection process of prisoners for the workshop.<br>• Induct prisoners to the workshop/area of work and train them in aspects such as health and safety, Control of Substance Hazardous to Health (COSHH), machinery and tools usage. Ensuring all tools, equipment and raw materials are safe, secure and properly accounted for.<br>• Provide support for prisoners where required; tailor learning and training requirements to individual needs. Setting work schedules and manage targets/quality standards, maintaining delivery of contractual arrangements.<br>• Supervise, manage and control prisoners decently, safely and securely whilst carrying out all activities, with responsibility for their performance, motivation, discipline, appraisal and development. Conduct a metal detector scan or rub down search of prisoners attending and leaving their own workshops.<br>• Initiate product development reviews to maintain workshop/area of work output levels, and to provide variety of work and experience for prisoners.<br>• Contribute to risk and health and safety assessments on consumables and Health and Safety risk assessments relating to the workshop/area of work and specialist areas.<br>• Actively contribute to prisoner reports, parole and sentence planning, Assessment, Care in Custody &amp; Teamwork (ACCT) and Security Information Report (SIRs) by providing information to case managers. Open and complete Assessment Care in Custody and Teamwork (ACCT) forms, Violence Reduction Incident Reports (VRIR) and Security Information Reports (SIRs) when required and contribute to Incentive Earned Privileges (IEP) reports.<br>• Contribute to prisoner reports including parole and sentence planning, regime monitoring information and update prisoner training records.<br>• Maintain regular communications via radio net in accordance with Local Security Strategy (LSS).<br>• Request materials and estimate usage in order to meet work targets whilst providing quality assurance against product specification.<br>• Log attendance and approve prisoner hours worked and wages including recording piece work where appropriate.<br>• Attending and contributing to relevant meetings as required.<br>• Providing administrative support for workshop activities.
