&nbsp; About Team/role&nbsp; The position of Senior SEN Case Officer is to ensure a small team of case officers meet our statutory duties by providing line management, case management and support and guidance on the statutory requirements of the role.&nbsp; The Senior SEN Case Officer also has a small case load of complex cases and is the allocated Case Officer for our local Alternative Provider and our local SEMH Special School.&nbsp;
The job holder will lead and support a small team of case officers to ensure that the EHC needs assessments are carried out in line with the requirements of the Children and Families Act 2014 and the 0-25 SEND Code of Practice 2015, the phase transfers are completed by the statutory deadline of 31 March and that there is a plan in place to tackle high priority annual reviews.&nbsp; Attendance at regular meetings of SEND Panel and other decision-making meetings is part of this role.&nbsp; You will need to be experienced enough to quality assure draft EHC Plans written by team members before they are sent out to parents and to provide information and instructions to the Joint Legal Team on Tribunal cases they are handling on behalf of the team.&nbsp; Attendance at Next Steps Meetings and Mediation Meetings are also part of this role.&nbsp;

As the Senior SEN Resolution Lead, you will take the lead on dispute resolution and represent the Local Authority in SEND Tribunal cases. You will oversee the statutory assessment, placement, and monitoring of pupils with special educational needs, ensuring compliance with legal frameworks and statutory deadlines. A key part of your role will be supervising and supporting SEN Case Officers and Assistant Case Officers, while also managing complex casework and contributing to the development of high-quality, outcome-focused EHCPs.&nbsp;
In addition, you will analyse trends in appeals and develop strategies to reduce escalation, working closely with legal teams and stakeholders. You will play a strategic role in SEN planning, offering expert advice and ensuring best practices are followed. A vital aspect of the role includes delivering training and sharing specialist SEND knowledge with schools, education providers, and partner organisations to build capacity and improve outcomes across the borough.&nbsp;
We are looking for a dedicated professional with a degree in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience, and at least two years’ experience managing a SEN caseload. You will have a strong understanding of the SEN Code of Practice and the SEND Tribunal process, along with excellent communication, negotiation, and mediation skills. The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven ability to lead, supervise, and manage complex casework, and will bring a collaborative, person-centred approach to working with families, schools, and professionals to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.&nbsp;

You will be the first point of contact for professionals and members of the public related to queries regarding fixed penalty notices (FPN’s) and support the team with implementing procedures to ensure notices are issued correctly and families are supported to make payments. Your role will be important to supporting our strategic priority of improving school attendance in Reading.
Key responsibilities

<li>To implement procedures related to fixed penalty notices, including reviewing information and initial agreement to issue, creating and sending the notice, and ensuring payment of the notice.</li>

This role will provide operational management of the Elective Home Education (EHE) and responsibilities in liaison with the Education Access Team Manager, and Head of Education Access and Support
 Key responsibilities:

<li>Implement robust safeguarding procedures and apply local threshold of need to cases of pupil welfare concerns, making appropriate safeguarding referrals as necessary</li>

<li>Contribute to meetings with schools, families and partners regarding potential Elective Home Education</li>
<li>To visit families engaged in EHE and offer advice when requested and as set out in government guidance in policy, including statutory annual contact for each child on the register carrying out an assessment of suitability of education provided as defined by law</li>
<li>To work in partnership with schools and partner organisations (e.g. Attendance Support Team, Special Education Needs and Disabilities Team, Elevate, Health) in relation to EHE pupils</li>
<li>To contribute to the development of the Reading policy, procedures and practice through review, monitoring and self-evaluation</li>

 Experience/skills required.

<li>Educated to an A-Level standard or equivalent</li>
<li>Good GCSE or equivalent passes, especially in English and Maths</li>

<li>Good working knowledge of child protection and safeguarding processes, procedures and thresholds</li>

About the Role: As a Registered Manager, you will:

<li>Lead the development, registration, and launch of one of our new homes.</li>
<li>Ensure the delivery of high-quality, child-centered care in line with Ofsted standards.</li>
<li>Inspire and manage a team of residential staff, ensuring continuous professional development.</li>

What We’re Looking For:

 About the role
We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at Cressingham Residential Children’s Home. 
Cressingham is an expanding and thriving short break service offering overnight support, independence clubs, and after school visits to children and young people aged 8-18 years with complex needs and learning disabilities. We provide a home from home setting where children can make friends and feel safe. 
This is a fantastic opportunity to join a reputable and growing Children’s Services provider and to work in a home rated Outstanding by Ofsted! 
This position would suit someone who is currently working as a Team Leader or Deputy Manager in a Children's Service with at least 18 months experience of leading a team and looking for career progression.
 Key areas of responsibility include:
<ul>
<li>Assist Registered Home Manager in delivering a specialist service (e.g. residential or short break) over a 24-hr period, to children and young people with profound and multiple learning/physical disabilities and sensory impairments, in accordance with legislative requirements.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Under the direction of the Registered Home Manager, give strong clear and informed leadership, supervision and general management to motivate a team of Residential Child Care Practitioners, enabling them to support and empower young people through high standards of professional practice.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>To support the team to provide positive outcomes for children/young people and their families.</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Under the direction and in the absence of the Registered Home Manager, to take responsibility for the efficient and effective operation of the home, ensuring that all BFfC systems, policies and procedures are adhered to</li>
</ul>
&nbsp; Minimum Requirements for this role are:
<ul>
<li>Level 4 Diploma in childcare or equivalent professional qualification</li>
<li>An undertaking to complete a relevant management qualification</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>
Experience in residential or short break care services</li>
<li>
Experience of working in the area of disability</li>
<li>Experience working with Social Services and Families</li>
</ul>
<ul>
<li>Experience of effective risk assessment and risk management</li>
<li>Experience of supervising and managing a direct line team</li>
<li>Experience of the legal and social care policy framework</li>
<li>Experience of quality performance and auditing systems</li>
