Job Title:&nbsp;Engagement Worker
Location:&nbsp;MK40 2LL, Bedford
Salary:&nbsp;£24,500
Shift Pattern:&nbsp;37.5 hours per week, Monday to Sunday hours can vary between 08:00 - 16:00, 09:00 - 17:00 and 12:00 - 20:00 on a rota basis which will include varying hours dependent on service needs. You may also be required to work bank holidays if the rota falls on this day.
About the role
We're looking for an Engagement Worker to join our residential service based in Bedford which is a 19-bed residential service close to Bedford Town Centre offering a safe, peaceful and supportive living environment for individuals wishing to engage with support to assist them in increasing their levels of independence. You will support with various responsibilities within the service, with a focus on providing social contact and company to help enhance quality of life, personal safety, health and security, sustainment of tenancy and improving financial independence. You will support our residents to gain the relevant skills and knowledge to gain greater independence, supporting them back into the community.&nbsp;
The role is varied, with each day being different, depending on service and resident needs. You may need to run and engage in activities, complete support sessions, arrange external activities, in house activities, and support with attending appointments.

Pastoral Lead

The role
We are currently looking for an experienced facilitator with a counselling qualification (minimum Level 4 diploma) to deliver our Living with Secondary Breast Cancer (LWSBC) group in Romford.
Our LWSBC groups offer support and information to anyone living with a diagnosis of secondary (metastatic) breast cancer. The groups offer a safe space where people can come to talk freely and share experiences and mutual support with others who understand, away from friends and family. They are not therapeutic support groups in the traditional sense but are delivered in accordance with our UK-Wide service model, developed and tested for over 10 years.
You’ll be responsible for facilitating the groups, drawing upon your therapeutic skills as required. Ensuring all attendees are given time to share and supported to take part in discussion, including around challenging topics affecting this patient group such as end of life. You’ll work independently in your region, with sole responsibility for facilitating each group, liaising with venue staff as required. You’ll act as an ambassador for Breast Cancer Now, promoting our charitable aims and building professional relationships with healthcare professionals who attend.
This is offered as a contract for services position and as such the appointed contractor would not be an employee of Breast Cancer Now but a self-employed individual. We require all contractors to adhere to and follow Breast Cancer Now applicable policies and procedures and to undertake some mandatory training in core subjects such as data protection and cyber security. A satisfactory criminal record check will be required.
About you
You’ll have a counselling qualification and experience of facilitating groups, preferably ongoing support groups for people affected by cancer or a life-limiting long-term condition, or other vulnerable/sensitive group. You’ll have a warm and approachable manner, able to communicate sensitively with people facing difficult challenges. You’ll be confident using your own initiative and dealing with unforeseen challenges when working alone and be able to travel to facilitate the group in person from your home address.

About the role:
Horsham District Council is looking for a Neighbourhood Warden to work in the parishes of Steyning, Bramber and Upper Beeding.
A Neighbourhood Warden is an exciting and varied role which will see you working alongside other HDC staff, Sussex Police, the Parish Councils, local voluntary sector organisations and other agencies to find solutions for a range of community issues and improve the quality of life for local residents through engagement, promotion and support. Working as part of a small team, within the Council’s Communities department, the role involves tackling the fear of crime, encouraging a sense of shared ownership and responsibility, and responding to the needs of local residents through development of local projects and signposting to existing services, whilst providing a uniformed, reassuring, patrolling presence with the ability to use enforcement measures as necessary.
Working a shift rota to provide a service at peak times, the job will entail working some evenings and weekends, adaptable working arrangements may be possible. It should be noted that the post involves foot patrol outside in all weathers.
You will join an existing Neighbourhood Warden in the parish.
Neighbourhood Wardens are employed by HDC but funded through the Parish Councils and the Council has a three year partnership agreement with parishes who have adopted the scheme. The current agreement expires in March 2028 and may be renewed after this date, subject to further Parish Council funding.
About you:
To succeed as a Neighbourhood Warden, you will be a good communicator, solution focused, confident, enthusiastic and come with a genuine commitment to identifying and developing mechanisms for improving quality of life for all residents.
You will be educated to A-Level standard (or equivalent) and have previous experience of working with the members of the public. You will receive training in subject areas including Warden Core Skills, ASB Powers, Personal Safety, First Aid, Community Safety Accreditation Scheme (CSAS) and other job-related skills. You should possess a full and current UK driving licence.
