Hours of work
4 hours term time and 8 in the school holidays
About the recipient
The individual is male, 17 years old and resides in Bridlington.
They like/enjoy practical tasks, especially bricklaying and hands-on construction work. He can focus well on activities he enjoys and takes pride in the things he makes. He is good at maths and achieved awards in the subject. He likes listening to music and watching YouTube, particularly when he is on his own. He enjoys eating out, especially going for steak. He likes to have his own space and sitting on his own. He likes to take care of his personal presentation and using aftershave to smell nice. He likes routine and knowing what is going to happen.
He dislikes sudden changes, large groups of people and busy environments. He finds it very hard when things feel unpredictable. He doesn’t like being challenged in a way that feels confrontational or pressuring. He doesn’t like being threatened with consequences, as this makes him more anxious and dysregulated. He struggles when bored or when repeating things he has already done.
He needs help managing his emotions when feeling overwhelmed, frustrated or challenged at home or in the community. He needs the right support in place to help prevent becoming dysregulated. He needs consistent, trusted people to support him. He needs support with emotional regulation when he is told “no” or when things don’t go as expected. He also needs help to stay safe when he feels the urge to leave the environment he is in as he tends to go off on my own. Having proactive support in place helps him to stay calm, engage in activities and do his best.
