Barnsley Library service is looking for a Driver/Assistant job share to support our Home Library and Bookstart service. This varied role includes driving a van to deliver books and other items to customers, as well as completing essential administrative tasks. These include selecting books from stock, issuing and returning items on the Library Management System, preparing orders, answering telephone enquiries and supporting other day-to-day duties. As the service has one van, one Driver/Assistant will usually be out making deliveries while the other remains in the office to prepare orders and complete administrative work.

We are looking for someone with driving experience who understands how to keep a vehicle safe, including carrying out daily safety and maintenance checks. You will communicate well with customers, many of whom are elderly, and work closely with your job-share colleague to ensure tasks are completed accurately and nothing is missed. You should also be comfortable with administrative work, which is an essential part of the role.

If you work well with others and enjoy a varied day-to-day role, this could be the job for you. We look forward to receiving your application.
