Harborough District Council’s vision is to work with communities in a vibrant, safe and prosperous district and to bring the best opportunities to all.
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join the Electoral Services team as an Elections & Land Charges Officer.
Working within the Elections & Local Land Charges Team, this busy role will provide efficient and effective administrative support to ensure the smooth running of the electoral registration process and elections, referenda and polls within the district, as well as assisting with the maintenance of local land charges searches required as part of the housing market process. You will need to have good customer skills to engage with other Officers, Councillors and external stakeholders.
The successful candidate will need to be confident in using Microsoft applications, including Teams, Word and Outlook. Whilst former experience of elections or land charges is not necessary, some experience of working with complex systems and sensitive data is preferred. You will also need experience of managing conflicting tasks to meet tight deadlines. As well as this, you must be able to effectively prioritise and organise your own workload. The ability to work both in a team and using initiative to work independently is also expected. A good general education, including GCSE English Language and Maths (Grade 4 or above) or equivalent qualification is required as well as having the right skills and aptitude for the role.
It is expected that the successful candidate will be based primarily in the office with remote working when this suits the business needs. The post holder will work outside usual office hours for periods of the year pre and post elections. This is likely to be between 6 to 8 weeks at a time.
People who are employed through an employment agency to carry out work at HDC may apply for internal vacancies.
The closing date for receipt of completed applications is 15th November 2026. Interviews will be held on Wednesday 2nd November 2026.
We reserve the right to bring forward the closing date should we receive sufficient suitable applications, so we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
