Governing Bodies Support Officer
The Governor Services Team is looking to recruit a 30 hour, term-time Governing Bodies Support Officer to join our professional and supportive team.
This is an interesting and varied role supporting governors and governing bodies across schools and academies in North Lincolnshire to fulfil their core and statutory responsibilities and contribute to effective governance and improved outcomes for children and young people.
We are looking for a conscientious, organised and proactive individual who is committed to delivering a high-quality service.
You will need to be able to work effectively as part of a team, while also being confident using your own initiative and working independently.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, together with strong organisation and time-management skills and the ability to manage competing priorities and work to deadlines.
You will also need to be confident using a range of IT applications and able to build positive and professional relationships with governors, school leaders and education colleagues.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Providing Governance Professional support to governing bodies, including attending meetings in schools and online, during both the daytime and evenings, and producing accurate, high-quality minutes and associated administration.
- Providing comprehensive and timely guidance to governors and governing bodies on legislation, statutory responsibilities, governance procedures and good practice, both during meetings and through the day-to-day Governor Services function.
- Liaising with governors, school leaders and education colleagues on governance and procedural matters, including preparing key documentation and undertaking consultation processes.
- Supporting governing bodies to operate effectively and in accordance with their statutory responsibilities and agreed procedures.
- Handling sensitive and confidential information appropriately and ensuring compliance with data protection and GDPR requirements.

- Is able to maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate judgement when dealing with sensitive information;
- Is able and willing to attend evening governing body meetings as an essential part of the role.
Experience or knowledge of school governance would be desirable but is not essential.
We are particularly interested in individuals with the right skills, approach and willingness to learn, and support will be available to develop the specialist governance knowledge required for the role.
