The Role

We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, skilled, and flexible Higher Level Teaching Assistant to work across all year groups within our academy. This is a varied and rewarding role that sits at the heart of school life, combining three core elements:

• Planning (with support) and delivering high-quality lessons across a range of subjects to release class teachers for their planning, preparation, and assessment time.
• Providing seamless continuity of learning by covering classes during short-term teacher absence, ensuring minimal disruption to children’s education.
• Leading focused small-group and individual intervention sessions to accelerate progress for identified pupils, particularly in reading, writing, and mathematics.

The successful candidate will be a confident practitioner who can step into any classroom across the school, build positive relationships with children and staff, and deliver learning that reflects the high standards we set at Signhills.

We Are Looking For a Candidate Who

• Holds HLTA status or has similar experience
• Has experience of delivering whole-class teaching across the primary age range, ideally within Key Stage 2
• Can plan (with support) and deliver engaging lessons independently, adapting to different year groups and subjects at short notice
• Has a strong understanding of the primary curriculum, effective pedagogy, and assessment for learning
• Is experienced in planning and leading targeted interventions and can demonstrate measurable impact on pupil progress
• Understands the principles of adaptive teaching and how to meet the needs of all learners, including those with SEND and those who are disadvantaged
• Is an excellent communicator who builds strong relationships with children, colleagues, and families
• Is resilient, organised, and able to manage the demands of a flexible role across the school
• Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
