Are you someone who enjoys research, the collation of data and project delivery in the housing field? If so we are looking for someone like you!

We are looking for someone to work on a wide range of projects to ensure the delivery of our housing strategy to help meet the housing needs of local people. This is a varied role which includes tracking performance, project management and identifying and recommending best practice to inform future service delivery.

What will you be doing?

The key elements of the role include:

  • Providing accurate and reliable information on the housing circumstances and needs of local people by means of research, the collation of statistics and identification of best practice.
  • Ensure the actions within the Housing Strategy and other housing-related strategies are monitored and delivered with respect to improving the housing circumstances of local people.
  • Be responsible for compiling the planning consultation responses, provide pre-application advice and liaise directly with the Planning Services and land agents to ensure new sites contain the appropriate numbers and mix of affordable housing

About you

As an ideal candidate, you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of conducting research and presenting recommendations using a variety of methods, whether undertaken in a work setting or during academic study
  • Knowledge and understanding of current policy issues affecting local authorities and social housing in particular
  • Ability to demonstrate an understanding of the ways district councils can assess housing need and enable the development of social housing
  • Ability to work with a high degree of independence and have excellent negotiating skills.
  • Ability to make decisions on issues that do not always have clear policy or procedural guidelines
