Learning and Development Co-ordinator (0.8 FTE)

Are you organised, proactive and passionate about providing excellent customer service?

Do you enjoy coordinating activity, solving problems and building positive relationships with a wide range of people? Are you looking for a role where you can develop new skills, grow your confidence and make a real difference to colleagues across the organisation? If so, we'd love to hear from you.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Learning & Development Co-ordinator to join our Organisation Development Team, part of the wider People Team at North Tyneside Council.

This is a varied and rewarding role where you'll help coordinate learning and development activity for thousands of learners across North Tyneside Council and our wider learning community. You'll play a key part in creating a positive learner experience, supporting colleagues to access the learning and development opportunities they need to thrive in their roles.

We're particularly interested in people with strong transferable skills. You don't need to come from a learning and development background to be successful in this role. We can teach you the technical aspects of what we do. What matters most is that you're organised, customer-focused, willing to learn and take pride in delivering a great service.

What will you be doing?

As our Learning & Development Co-ordinator, you'll be at the heart of our learning offer.

You'll be the first point of contact for many of our customers, helping to coordinate learning activity from start to finish and ensuring everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Whether it's supporting learners, coordinating facilitators, managing systems, creating reports or helping organise training events, no two days are quite the same.

This is a fast-paced role that requires someone who enjoys variety, can manage competing priorities and remains organised when balancing multiple demands.

Who are we looking for?

We're looking for someone who enjoys working with people and takes pride in doing a great job.

We welcome applications from people with experience in areas such as administration, customer service, business support, project support, education, coordination roles or other fields where you've developed transferable skills that could help you succeed.

Why join our team?

Our Organisation Development Team is a small, supportive and ambitious team that takes pride in the service we provide.

We genuinely enjoy working together and supporting one another to succeed. While we maintain professional standards in everything we do, we're also a team that values openness, collaboration and continuous learning.

A successful candidate will be supported to develop their confidence and capability, with opportunities to work autonomously whilst always having access to guidance and support when needed.

By the end of your first year, you'll have developed strong relationships with facilitators, learners and key stakeholders, built confidence using our systems and processes and be able to work independently within the Learning & Development Co-ordinator role.

Working arrangements

This post is offered on a 0.8 FTE basis (29.6 hours per week).

We understand that flexibility is important and are happy to discuss options and working arrangements with the successful candidate.

The role is based at the Quadrant East and benefits from our flexitime scheme. Once onboarding and training have been completed, there will also be opportunities for hybrid working, enabling you to work from home when appropriate.

Thinking about applying?

We understand that applying for a new role is a big decision.

If you're interested in the role but unsure whether your experience is the right fit, we'd strongly encourage you to get in touch for an informal conversation. We're happy to talk through the role, the team and the skills we're looking for.

Interviews for the role will be scheduled over Friday 30th Oct and/or Monday 6th November.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact:

Our Carbon Net-Zero 2030 Action Plan

In 2019, North Tyneside Council declared a climate emergency. This declaration set a target to reduce the carbon footprint of the council’s operations, and the borough, by 50% by 2023 and to align to the Government’s net zero target of 2050. We recognise the significant role we can play in the borough in helping to limit climate change, but we can’t do this alone; we need help from all our residents, businesses, voluntary and community sectors and of course all those who apply and work for us. Together we can make North Tyneside a sustainable place to live and work for everyone in the borough.
