About Us

The Governors of Goring CE Primary School are seeking to appoint an experienced Learning Support Assistant for 30 hours a week. These hours are to be worked Monday to Friday 8.35am-3.20pm each day, term time only. This position is being offered on a fixed term basis and will run to July 27 initially.

Goring Church of England Primary School is a two-form entry primary school with a strong Christian ethos and active links with St Mary’s Church in Goring.

We are a happy, caring and successful school, and we are looking to appoint an assistant who has had first-hand experience of supporting children with a range of SEN needs including autism, moderate learning difficulties and other additional needs such as attachment disorder. The role primarily involves supporting children on a 1:1 basis but may include small group learning support so candidates need to be willing to be flexible.

What You Need to Succeed

To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate experience within this area of expertise, and it would be desirable if this was within Early Years / Key Stage 1, but not essential.


Essential Qualifications: 5 GCSE including Maths & English, NVQ 3 or equivalent.
We are looking for a candidate who:-

  • Understands the learning needs of the child they are supporting and deliver tasks adapted and matched to the way the child learns best
  • Is able to provide a child with quality learning opportunities to close the gap in their attainment between them and their peers (as appropriate) and improve life outcomes
  • Has experience and a keen interest in working with and relating to children with emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Are caring and positive-minded with a solution focused approach and able to stay calm at all times
  • Are able to reduce a child’s anxiety by pre-empting situations or giving reassurance at times of worry
  • Are able to make and use visual aids such as timetables and reward systems with the child
  • Are able to build positive relationships with parents/carers, school staff and outside agencies and work as part of a team
  • Will support the Christian values and ethos of the school
  • Are willing to support children in managing their personal hygiene needs
  • Are proficient in current computer programs
