Are you passionate about books and helping others? We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Library Assistant - Delivery to support our outreach library services. The successful candidate will be responsible for transporting books, media, and other library materials between branches and to home delivery customers, schools, and community centres, ensuring a timely and safe delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Drive a library vehicle along scheduled routes to deliver and collect library materials.

Provide a friendly and courteous service to all library users, including elderly or disabled customers.

Load and unload multiple boxes of books and other items, ensuring secure handling.

Maintain accurate delivery records and logs.

Use online systems.

Assist with setting up displays or events when required.

Perform basic vehicle checks and report maintenance issues.

Follow health and safety procedures and always adhere to traffic laws.

About You:

You should be reliable, organised, and able to work independently.

Love books and reading and be able to select resources for our customers.

Have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Hold a full clean driving license and be able to drive both manual and automatic large vehicles – HGV license not required.

Be physically fit with the ability to lift and carry boxes.

Experience working with vulnerable individuals is a plus.
