The Vacancy

Sir John Nelthorpe School is a successful and popular 11-19 mixed comprehensive school with a rapidly growing roll (currently 830 pupils). It has a caring ethos and a long tradition of academic attainment. As part of the school’s extra-curricular activities, we run a successful and rewarding Combined Cadet Force for our pupils.


We are now seeking to appoint a highly motivated School Staff Instructor (SSI) to join our CCF team on a part-time permanent basis from January 2027. The appointment of the SSI at Sir John Nelthorpe School is made by the Headteacher and is subject to approval by the Brigade (via the Cadet Training Team). The post is accountable to the school’s CCF Contingent Commander.

You will be based at the School for one day per week term time for 39 weeks per year and will work 51 days funded by the MOD which will be 1 day per week term-time plus some weekend and holiday working at camps and training courses. The working pattern will be 7.5hrs per week (1 day) term time + 7.5 hours per week (1 day) to be claimed via the MOD for 51 weeks per year (inc. some weekend working)
