Anonymised Application – in keeping with Camden’s commitment to inclusion the recruitment to this role is anonymised and supports the objective of reducing the impact of unconscious bias.

    About us
Camden is building somewhere everyone can thrive, by making our borough the best place to live, work, study and visit. We’re not just home to the UK’s fast-growing economy. We’re home to the most important conversations happening today. And we’re making radical social change a reality, so that nobody gets left behind. Here’s where you can help shape a better future for us all.

We are passionate about giving children and young people the best start in life, supporting healthy lifestyles, and making it easier for everyone to take part in physical activity. Camden’s Sport and Physical Activity Team provides opportunities for young people to thrive through positive sports experiences, promoting safe, fun and inclusive activities. Our programmes range from holiday courses to drop-in sessions and competitions – and we’re proud to deliver them.

    The role
As a Senior Sports Coach you will lead and develop our sports programmes, with a particular focus on workforce and programme development. You will plan and manage sessions, supervise and support a team of coaches, and ensure the delivery of high-quality, inclusive activities.

You will help grow participation, support talent development so that participants can progress to compete at higher levels, and make sure that all sessions are safe, accessible and engaging. Alongside your coaching responsibilities, you will contribute to service improvement and innovation, ensuring our programmes meet community needs and reflect developments in the sector.

This is a hands-on role that combines coaching, operational management and workforce development, making it ideal for someone who enjoys balancing delivery with leadership.

    About you
You will hold a minimum Level 4 NGB qualification, or a Level 3 NGB qualification with extensive relevant experience and be working towards Level 4 (or equivalent). You will have strong experience designing and delivering high-quality coaching programmes for children and young people and be confident leading both recreational and squad sessions.

You will be a natural leader who can manage, motivate and empower a team of coaches and volunteers, while acting as a positive role model for staff, participants and the wider community. Strong organisational and communication skills are essential, as well as experience working with parents, schools and community partners.

An understanding of safeguarding and inclusion is required, along with the ability to design services that break down barriers to participation.

You’ll be based at Talacre Sports Centre, with some requirements to attend competitions, events, and meetings with schools, community organisations and delivery partners. You’ll manage up to 6 FTE staff (mostly part-time) and work closely with colleagues across Camden and external partners like British Gymnastics, schools and local clubs.
