Recycling is crucial for environmental protection and in the UK each year, it helps to save 10-15 million tonnes of carbon emissions – which is the equivalent of taking 3.5 million cars off the road.
With the arrival of ‘Simpler Recycling’ initiatives next year, Knowsley is keen to play its part in boosting recycling rates to help reduce the need for landfill, conserve resources and save energy.
To realise its recycling targets, it needs the support of its residents and with new a new food waste collection service coming in from March 2026, there is an opportunity to embed a new and renewed focus on recycling to highlight the potential benefits it can bring to individuals, families, the community and the environment.
To help achieve our recycling aspirations, we are looking for an enthusiastic and creative Senior Communications Officer to work directly with the newly created Recycling Engagement Team.
You will have experience of creating and commissioning engaging content for digital use and other communication channels, alongside possessing exemplary written communication skills. As part of the Council’s Communications Team, you will play a key role in informing the public, engaging with residents and contributing to the Council’s external and internal communications channels.
