    ABOUT US

    Community Neighbourhoods are localised networks bringing together physical assets like libraries and community centres with social assets like volunteering and sports activities with the aim to increase people’s networks.
    Community Neighbourhoods are at the heart of the Council’s vision for developing community resilience. By building the community infrastructure which enable residents to network, volunteer and be active, Community Neighbourhoods will be central to strengthening community cohesion and resilience.

    ABOUT THE JOB

    Community Neighbourhood Assistants will be the ‘face’ of Community Neighbourhoods within libraries, community centres and at Community Neighbourhood events, engaging with residents and ensuring the smooth running of the facilities on a day-to-day basis.

    Much of the work will require you to undertake library duties such as stock tidying, floor walking and assisting residents with self-service and online systems. The post also covers community centre’s and events.

    You will also be assisting in the daily opening and closing procedures of libraries and community centre’s and assisting senior officers with the day to day running of sites.

    ABOUT YOU

    You need to relish working with the public, enjoy interacting with residents and be able to bring your experience of this to the role. You must also be able to demonstrate you can work in an organised way, with good literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

    A high degree of flexibility will be required as you may be asked to work in a variety of locations as and when required. If you are motivated, flexible, and would like to opportunity to work across a range of functions in Community Neighbourhoods we want to hear from you.
