An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, compassionate, and motivated Team Manager to join Devon County Council's Newton Abbot Community Health and Social Care Team.
About Us
The Newton Abbot team is comprised of colleagues from a range of professional backgrounds, including Social Work, Occupational Therapy, and non-professionally registered staff.
We support a diverse population across urban, rural and coastal communities, working with:
- Adults of working age with physical and/or learning disabilities, including transition to adulthood.
- Older adults with physical disabilities and/or mental health needs, including dementia.
- Unpaid carers.

Our office is based in Newton Abbot but we cover surround areas including Kingsteignton, Chudleigh and Bovey Tracey.
The Role
As Team Manager, you will provide leadership, direction and support to a multidisciplinary team of Social Workers, Occupational Therapists and Social Care Assessors.
You will play a key role in driving high standards of practice, performance, and professional development, ensuring people receive timely, person-centred support that promotes independence and positive outcomes.
The team undertakes a varied range of work, including:
- Care and Support Needs Assessments
- Moving and Handling Assessments
- Mental Capacity Assessments
- Risk assessment and management
- Safeguarding enquiries
- Court work
- Hospital Discharge
You will provide supervision, guidance, and professional challenge to practitioners, supporting them to apply strengths-based and asset-based approaches that maximise opportunities for people to remain independent and reduce reliance on formal services wherever possible.
As Team Manager, you will lead on safeguarding adults’ enquiries in accordance with organisational policy, legislation, and best practice guidance. You will also contribute to service development, quality assurance and partnership working across Health and Social Care systems.
This is an excellent opportunity for an aspiring or experienced manager to make a real difference, leading a dedicated team while helping shape the future delivery of Adult Social Care services across the West locality.

Salary range
- £46,579 - £50,908 per year
