Do you have the skills and experience to deliver life-changing therapeutic parenting and child interventions that make a real difference? Do you enjoy working directly with families to empower them and build lasting resilience? If so, you may be the perfect candidate for this exciting opportunity to work as a member of the Prevention and Intervention Service developing Knowsley’s response to children who are displaying harmful sexual behaviours.
To support the offer of the Prevention and Intervention service by completing specialist harmful sexual behaviour assessments and delivering therapeutic harmful sexual interventions to families and children displaying a range of complex, interacting needs. The aim will be to reduce risk of harmful sexual behaviours and improve outcomes for the child.
The parenting support will enable parents and carers develop the skills and confidence they need to support their children’s wellbeing and development.
You will complete therapeutic interventions using the latest research in relation to children how have experienced trauma and display a risk of harm towards others sexually. You will be required to utilise a trauma informed approach to build trusted relationship with children that require specialist intervention to reduce risk and improve children’s lives.
You will work closely with families, professionals, and partner agencies to reduce harms associated with safeguarding, exploitation, crime, and anti-social behaviour. In this role, you will be expected to contribute to safeguarding processes and take the lead in coordinating support, ensuring services are responsive and effective.
You should have a good understanding of child development, safeguarding, and the challenges families face when dealing with harmful sexual behaviour and external harms such as exploitation. Strong communication, planning, and partnership working skills are essential, as is the ability to build trusted relationships with parents and carers. The primary focus will be assessing harmful sexual behaviours and providing interventions to children and parents facing multiple and complex challenges.
