Year 6 Class Teacher

Whitley Abbey Primary School is looking to appoint an excellent part-time Year 6 Class Teacher to join our dedicated and supportive team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work within our Year 6 team, sharing responsibility for a class and helping pupils to make strong progress academically, socially and personally during their final year of primary school.

The Role

The successful candidate will:

• Share responsibility for teaching a Year 6 class as part of a part-time/job-share arrangement.
• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging and inclusive teaching that enables all pupils to make strong progress.
• Maintain high expectations for achievement, behaviour, presentation and attitudes to learning.
• Work closely with the Year 6 team to ensure strong continuity, consistency and communicationacross the working week.
• Use assessment effectively to identify pupils' strengths, gaps and next steps in learning.
• Support pupils to achieve the best possible outcomes in reading, writing and mathematics.
• Ensure appropriate support and challenge for all pupils, including those with SEND, disadvantaged pupils and pupils working at greater depth.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school and help provide pupils with memorable experiences during their final year at Whitley Abbey.
• Build positive and professional relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
• Help prepare pupils for a successful and confident transition to secondary school.

• Is an excellent and enthusiastic classroom practitioner.
• Has high expectations for every pupil.
• Has a strong understanding of effective teaching and learning, particularly within Key Stage 2.
• Understands the importance of assessment and responsive teaching in securing strong pupil outcomes.
• Is able to work effectively as part of a job-share and wider Year 6 team.
• Is organised, reliable and committed to ensuring consistency for pupils.
• Builds warm, positive relationships while maintaining clear expectations.
• Is committed to contributing to the wider life and development of our school.
