Youth Justice Prevention Worker – 12 month fixed-term contract

Join the Turnaround Project, Help Wirral’s Young People Change Their Story!

As we celebrate nearly four incredible years of supporting and inspiring Wirral’s young people, the Turnaround Project is excited to welcome a new team member on a one-year fixed term contract. If you’re passionate, energetic, and ready to make a genuine impact, this could be the role for you.

About the Role

We work with young people aged 10 -17 who’ve been referred to us due to behaviour that could have led to police intervention. Our mission is to help them change direction, build confidence, and discover new opportunities.

Our programme is all about connection and experience:

▪ Early evening group activities several times a week

▪ School holiday adventures

▪ Sports, arts, and creative sessions

▪ 1 to 1 support rooted in empathy, listening, and positive relationships

You will work hand in hand with families, education, social care and partner agencies to help young people navigate challenges and build stronger futures, this will include writing high quality assessments.

About the Candidate

We’re looking for someone whose presence instantly inspires young people to think, “I want to work with them”, inspiring ambition and showing young people what’s possible. You will confidently deliver group activities and keep sessions positive, safe, and engaging, bringing energy, warmth, fun, and encouragement into every session.

You will model resilience and pro-social behaviour, not by lecturing, but by leading with authenticity and building great relationships with young people aged 10 -17. You will help create a group environment where young people feel valued, respected, and excited to return, whilst being able to redirect challenging behaviour with empathy and skill.

Above all, you will have a passion for helping young people grow. Every activity, every 1 to 1 chat, every shared laugh, becomes part of a young person’s story. One they’ll remember long after the project ends. You won’t just be running sessions - you’ll be shaping futures.

For an informal discussion about the role, please contact Tim Collins, timothycollins2@wirral.gov.uk
