An exciting opportunity has arisen within our highly successful Newham PRUs, a high-achieving federation of two Pupil Referral Unit Schools delivering transformative education to children and young people of all ages from Primary through to post-16.
Founded on the Nurture Principles, which are embedded in our policies and practices, we are seeking to recruit a Careers Lead and Transition Coach to work within our Multi Agency Specialist Team. This role is term-time only, meaning the working weeks align with the school term and include periods of non-working during school holidays.
The Careers Lead and Transition Coach will be responsible for leading and delivering a high-quality careers programme across the school, ensuring it meets the Gatsby Benchmarks. This includes working as part of the Multiagency Specialist Taskforce to:
- Work together with young people attending the school, their families and professionals from across education and other involved agencies to develop and implement support plans for young people attending the school which will assist them in progressing within their educational journeys.
- Support Year 11 students to make applications and successfully progress into post 16 education and training placements. This will include ensuring support is in place throughout the months after leaving school, providing pastoral support and supporting them to engage with partner agencies where appropriate to ensure the success of their placement.
- Support Key Stage 3 and 4 students to transition back into either mainstream school, or an alternative educational provision.
The successful candidate will be expected to uphold and promote the Nurture Principles in all aspects of their work with the Multi-Agency Specialist Team.
They must possess a qualification at minimum level 2 in the National Qualification Framework in English and Mathematics as well as having completed or be willing to undertake a relevant Level 4 Careers Guidance Qualification.
The role requires significant experience working with vulnerable children and families and a commitment to improving the lives of vulnerable young people.
