What you'll do
As the Director of Governance & Compliance, you will lead NHG's strategic approach to governance and compliance arrangements, ensuring NHG meets its legal and ethical obligations while fostering a culture of accountability. Your leadership will safeguard NHG's integrity, empower teams through robust frameworks, and strengthen trust with residents, regulators, and stakeholders.
How you'll do it
Design and implement governance frameworks aligned with the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) Standards, ensuring NHG exceeds regulatory expectations and maintains exemplary compliance.
Serve as an NHG contact for regulators, external agencies and the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), driving transparency and collaboration across all governance activities.
Act as Company Secretary and oversee critical functions including data protection, anti-fraud measures, and statutory reporting, ensuring adherence to UK GDPR, FCA, and other legislation.
Lead the creation and review of policies, standing orders, and codes of governance, embedding best practices and anticipating regulatory changes through proactive horizon scanning.
Oversee investigations into compliance breaches, fraud, or data incidents, ensuring robust mitigation strategies and ethical resolutions.
Manage multidisciplinary teams, fostering a culture of high performance through training, competency frameworks, and talent development.

We're seeking a Director of Governance and Compliance who combines strategic vision with hands-on expertise in regulated environments. You'll bring:
Essential:
- Chartered Company Secretary (or equivalent qualification)
- Strong leadership skills with experience is setting new behaviours across the organisation
- Experience within property and housing or public sector governance
- Proven success in designing and implementing governance frameworks that meet regulatory requirements
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills with a track record of influencing executive boards, regulators and cross-functional teams
- Expertise in compliance functions such as data protection, anti-fraud, and familiarity with UK legislation e.g. GDPR, FCA and Money Laundering Regulations
