About The Role
We are looking for a motivated, creative and committed individual to join the team our Housing Advice Team. You should have a keen interest in helping families and individuals at risk of homelessness to find solutions and with a focus on remaining in their current home.&nbsp; You must have experience of having worked within a statutory homelessness prevention service.
The successful candidate will have detailed knowledge and experience of working with the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act (HRA) and a proven track record of preventing homelessness, providing detailed housing advice to residents with housing issues and be able to empathise with the with clients facing the homelessness and understand the Council’s legal duties to those clients.
In addition to the above, you must be able to demonstrate your experience of managing complex cases, providing support to more junior staff, working within a busy environment and work to tight deadlines.
Your ability to communicate clearly and effectively to a wide variety of people and to be able to communicate clear concise advice both in written and verbally is crucial.
About The Team You’ll Be Working In
This is an exciting and busy role that is at the centre of the Councils response to homelessness. The service is aims to developing and progressing our agenda to reduce assess, identify housing needs and look for solutions to prevent homelessness.

<li>You will prevent homelessness by providing housing advice and assistance to people facing homelessness and carrying out homelessness prevention work.</li>
<li>You will provide customers with housing prevention advice supporting them to sustain their current accommodation or support them to secure alternative accommodation through the provision of personal housing plans.</li>
<li>You will be able to issue good quality notification letters such as 184 decisions in line with the council’s duty Housing Act 1997 and the HRA 2017 and in a timely manner.</li>
<li>You will work jointly with other services and partners to prevent homelessness and lead, attend and manage multi professional meetings when appropriate.</li>
<li>You will enable the delivery of a more efficient and effective homeless prevention and assessment service and assist in the development of policies and procedures.</li>

About You
The Ideal Candidate
<ul>
<li>You will have knowledge of the legislative frameworks and statutory requirements relating to the Housing Solutions Service and knowledge of relevant legislation especially the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, Part VII of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness code of Guidance.</li>
<li>You will have a good understanding of the Safeguarding in relation our vulnerable residents and the how to with external and internal partners to support them.</li>
<li>You will demonstrate an understanding of current issues affecting social housing and private housing provision, and of range of housing options and homelessness prevention approaches.</li>
<li>You will have experience of managing a varied caseload effectively ensuring that your cases are up to date.</li>
<li>You will have written and verbal communication skills, with ability to provide negotiation and the ability to work collaboratively with other services and partners.</li>

Two officers will be working across our Homeless Prevention Teams ensuring that at all stages of the process - from the point of first contact to main duty decisions, homelessness legal tests are applied correctly by our staff so that those residents who really need our help can receive it as quickly as possible.
The officers will also be working closely with our lawyers in our Legal Department to ensure that we are responding to threats of Judicial Review robustly and providing similar information and advice to our Corporate Complaints Team to respond to LGSC Ombudsman homelessness enquiries.
Working collaboratively and in a non judgemental way to foster learning and expert level knowledge amongst staff is key. Enabling and empowering staff and residents alike to work towards the most realistic housing solutions whilst ensuring value for money for the Council.
The ability to make decisions in a timely manner, often under pressure and responding to short notice enquiries is crucial.

The Role As the Housing Needs Review &amp; Improvement Manager you will lead Camden’s housing review service, overseeing statutory reviews and legal challenges under Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act 1996. You will represent the Council in court, liaise with legal teams, and ensure decisions are legally robust and compliant. This is a strategic leadership role. You will manage and develop a team of review officers, champion service improvement, and shape policy in response to legal precedent and resident feedback. You will work closely with legal services, housing teams, elected members, and the ombudsman. You'll also lead on data analysis, training, and quality assurance, using insights to strengthen delivery across the housing service. About You You bring substantial experience in housing, homelessness, or legal services, with strong knowledge of Parts 6 and 7 of the Housing Act and related case law. You understand administrative law, safeguarding, and housing allocations. You have proven leadership experience, including managing staff, guiding performance, and improving service standards. You are confident representing the Council in legal proceedings, producing high quality written decisions, and training others on good practice. Housing Officer - Salary £38,058 - £41,442pa The Resident Services Team is responsible for assisting tenants to sustain their tenancies and encourage and facilitate their independence, quality of life, safeguarding and health and well-being on a wide range of issues including housing, welfare rights, personal finance, hoarding, tenancy management, mediation, life skills and the promotion of personal independence. &nbsp;We also develop an holistic picture of each resident so as to be the principal point of contact for other council departments in actively trying to resolve issues / blockages such as gas access, hoarding, tenancy fraud, safeguarding. &nbsp;The post holder will act as the principle point of contact for a local area, estate or patch or group of residents so that the environment and condition that residents experience is well maintained to a high quality. We are a highly motivated and high achieving team and we are looking for 2 additional Housing Officers with Tenancy Management experience to complete our busy team. The work is both challenging and rewarding you will charged with maintaining an&nbsp; excellent and seamless service by working with partners and other internal and external services. &nbsp;The post holder will report to the Senior Housing Officer providing services to our customers through the following key objectives: &nbsp;• To establish and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues to ensure a one team approach to the delivery of &nbsp; &nbsp; our services whilst meeting individual and team key performance indicators and targets. • To engage with appropriate internal and external agencies in agreeing and implementing support / action plans in providing a tenancy support service to new and existing tenants to sustain tenancies and reduce homelessness in particular; Neighbourhood Sustainment, Income Management, Adult Social Care and Children’s Services and Mental Health to deliver a seamless service. Work and build strong partnership links with other agencies to include determining risk, providing support to include mental health cases, domestic violence, drug and alcohol misuse, disability to include attendance at multi-agency meetings. &nbsp;• Actively work alongside other Internal Departments to undertake casework regarding breaches of tenancy conditions including ASB, harassment, domestic violence, hate crime and nuisance to include attendance in Court.&nbsp; To work with key internal and external partners and stakeholders, demonstrating influencing and problem solving qualities in the delivery of excellent tenant and leasehold management services and the sustainability of tenancies and neighbourhoods. &nbsp;• To work collaboratively with the Income Team to tackle arrears and to support vulnerable residents. You will work within the Resident Services Team and have experience of working in social housing, tenancy management or similar public sector role, dealing with complex casework face to face and in writing, experience of developing relationships with wide range of local stakeholders and partners,&nbsp; providing good tenancy, housing and leasehold advice, best practice and compliance is desirable. <ul>
<li>&nbsp;With a proven track record of successful multi agency working, you will be outcome focused, clear thinking and have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
