The GLA is looking for an excellent candidate to provide secretariat support to Mayoral decision-making processes. The GLA’s Committee Services team delivers a high-quality shared service secretariat function to many of the Mayor of London’s boards as well as the London Assembly, Transport for London, Mayor’s Office for Policing and Crime, London Legacy Development Corporation and Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation. <h2>About the role</h2>
You’ll be joining a high-performing team at City Hall with an excellent reputation.
You will play a key role in the effective and efficient coordination of the GLA’s decision-making process, supporting the associated work of the Mayoral Delivery Board, as well as other boards and internal governance groups, and liaising with senior officers with tact and diplomacy in a fast-paced environment. You’ll see work you’ve contributed to covered in the media on your way home.
We need someone who doesn’t lose focus on the detail while keeping their eye on the context; maintaining high standards while proactively solving problems and maintaining smooth processes. You will be self-motivated, conscientious and have excellent written communication skills. The ability to liaise confidently and diplomatically with senior staff is essential.
<h2>What your day will look like</h2>
<ul>
<li>Ensuring effective and efficient administration coordination of the GLA’s decision-making process: providing timely support and advice on the process to officers; securing required financial and legal clearances; and ensuring timely publication of decision forms.</li>
<li>Ensuring decisions are taken and processed in line with the GLA’s governance frameworks.</li>
<li>Liaising with senior officers, politicians and colleagues from across the GLA and wider GLA Group to provide business management, governance and procedural advice.</li>
<li>Preparing reports and agendas, attending formal, high-level meetings and producing minutes.</li>

<h2>Skills, knowledge and experience</h2>
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria:

Following a successful initial recruitment campaign resulting in over 150 placements, LABC, the organisation that represents all local authority building control teams in England and Wales, is recruiting additional trainees to join their LABC Academy, starting in December 2025.
The LABC Academy Programme is a two-year programme that provides the opportunity to learn on the job working towards level 4 and level 5 diplomas in building control surveying whilst gaining on-the-job experience with a local authority building control department. &nbsp;
Throughout the programme you'll earn a competitive salary and on completion you'll have the skills, qualifications and experience required to become a Registered Building Inspector as well as the opportunity to progress to become a fully qualified Chartered Surveyor or Building Engineer.

The Independent Living Team is responsible for Spelthorne’s Older People’s Services, including Centres, Meals on Wheels Services, Social Prescribing and Disabled facilities Grants.
You will be based at Staines Community Centre but also provide cover across all 3 Centres in Spelthorne providing a range social and physical activities for older people. Your tasks will vary from working in the kitchen to running Centres with no on-site supervision and driving our Meals on wheels.
This is a fulfilling role that requires the ability to think on your feet, communicate well with others and be adaptable to ever changing priorities. You will need to be enthusiastic and flexible in your approach to work. Your role will include working with older people who are often very vulnerable so you will need a caring disposition and must be able to remain calm in all circumstances. Excellent organisation and communication skills are essential for this post. Knowledge of health and safety and food hygiene regulations is desirable.
The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for customer facing posts.&nbsp; These posts fall within the scope of the Code of Practice on English language requirement for public sector workers.&nbsp; The Council, therefore, has a statutory duty under Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 to ensure that post holders have a command of spoken English sufficient for the effective performance of the job requirements. <li>Experience of working to deadlines, providing high quality written submissions for reviews&nbsp;</li>

Who are we?
Hawley Woods School provides a specialist environment and support primarily for autistic children and those needing a similarly adapted approach with small classes of 6-8 pupils within our calm, nurturing setting. Our school caters for children from the age of 7 up to 16 years (Key Stages 2, 3 and 4). 
We help children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) who may be struggling to keep up with the pace of work, may be losing confidence, or struggling with the overwhelming sensory environment of their mainstream school. We also help children who have been out of education for a period of time, to positively re-engage in an education which takes into account any negative experiences they may have had in schools so far.
