Role Overview: As a Street Warden, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with parking regulations and contributing to the overall safety and cleanliness of our community. This role involves enforcing parking regulations, managing car park operations, and addressing environmental issues such as littering, dog fouling, and waste problems. You will patrol the borough on foot or by vehicle, providing a visible presence and reassurance to the public.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Address environmental issues such as littering, dog fouling, and waste management.
  • Conduct regular patrols on foot or by vehicle throughout the Borough.
  • Offer support and advice to businesses and landowners to tackle issues affecting them.
  • Report defective signs, road markings, and abandoned vehicles.

What We Offer:

  • Generous Annual Leave: Between 156.2 and 178.2 hours (NJC) of leave
  • Professional Development: Opportunities for career development linked to many roles.
  • Pension Scheme: Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme.
  • Free Parking: Available for all employees.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Assertive yet polite individuals when dealing with the public.
  • A calm and professional approach in challenging situations.
  • Experience in customer service is highly valued.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Keen observation skills to identify and report issues.
  • A valid driving licence is required.
  • Successful candidates will be subject to a standard DBS check.

Join Us: If you enjoy working outdoors and care about your local environment, this is the job for you! We are seeking self-motivated and enthusiastic individuals to join our team of Street Wardens. Every day is different in this role, and you will be out in the community making a real difference.

About the Council: Charnwood is one of the largest district councils in the country based on population, serving around 183,000 people. We offer a range of services, from refuse and recycling collections to the operation of a theatre and historic markets. Our services are built on our values: Pride in Charnwood, Customer Focused, and Working Together.

We are a Disability Confident Employer and proud signatories of the Armed Forces Covenant's Employer Recognition Gold Award. We prioritise the well-being and engagement of our employees through internal groups such as the Staff Forum, Health and Wellbeing Group and Equality Working Group.
