The Urban Design Officer will help shape and influence how Castle Point grows and develops over the next 20 years.</p><p>The role will include leading on multiple masterplans with varying constraints and opportunities, developing and commissioning evidence to support the master plans and ensuring that the views of residents and stakeholders are addressed through the plan-making process. This role involves considerable engagement with elected Members.</p><p>This role also provides the opportunity to work with colleagues on Climate Action projects, developing skills and expertise in this important area.</p><p>You will have the following key skills and abilities:</p><ul>\n<li>Well developed interpersonal skills for persuading and influencing and the ability to build effective relationships with customers and stakeholders</li>\n<li>The ability to work under your own initiative and balance competing demands and different projects</li>\n<li>The ability to understand and interpret complex information and provide solutions to problems looking over the longer term</li>\n<li>A strong ability to present information and write reports for a range of different audiences including elected Members</li>\n<li>A good level of general IT skills, and the ability to use GIS Software and Design Software to both analyse and resent information and to carry out design analysis and interpretation</li>\n</ul><p><strong>Experience </strong></p><p>Previous practical experience working on design briefs, master plans, design guidance or design codes is essential. Significant previous experience of undertaking engagement with residents, businesses, and other stakeholders is also a requirement of this role. </p><p><strong>Knowledge </strong></p><p>We are seeking an individual who is a member (or is eligible for membership) of the Recognised Practitioner of the Urban Design Group, or equivalent, and has knowledge of good practice relating to the design of the built environment.
