Are you passionate about leveraging Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and data analytics to drive innovation and improve public services? Tunbridge Wells Borough Council is seeking a dynamic and skilled GIS Data Engineer to join our Digital Services Team. In this pivotal role, you will support the Council and its partners in making informed decisions and enhancing operations through cutting-edge GIS and data analysis services. Key responsibilities
- Data Harvesting and Analysis: Identify and develop opportunities to collect data from various sources. Analyse and interpret data to generate meaningful insights and present findings to stakeholders.
- Data Management and Analysis: Work with large datasets across multiple systems and sources. Compile and analyse data to produce comprehensive reports and ensure data accuracy, security, and integrity.
- GIS Web Applications Development and Support: Develop, manage, and support internal and external GIS applications. Provide multi-level support to users and oversee the servers hosting GIS software.
- Corporate GIS Information Maintenance: Maintain and publish the Council’s corporate GIS information, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Respond to information requests from internal and external customers.
- Service Improvement and Development: Actively seek business/service improvements. Develop and maintain web-based GIS systems to deliver quality services to Council Officers, Councillors, and external customers.
- Data Integration: Integrate data held within the corporate GIS database with data from other systems. Identify efficiencies and improve service delivery by linking these datasets.
- Customer and Stakeholder Support: Act as the first point of contact for GIS-related enquiries. Provide training and technical assistance to GIS users and develop user documentation.
- Strategic Responsibilities: Integrate GIS data with other systems to create unified views of information. Encourage the adoption of GIS tools and practices among staff and manage the review and future planning of GIS infrastructure.
- Operational Responsibilities: Monitor system performance, troubleshoot technical issues, and deploy critical patches. Ensure the GIS data held in the corporate GIS database is accurate, secure, and up-to-date.
