Woking Borough Council is offering a fantastic opportunity to join our busy and dedicated Revenues team as a Revenue Recovery Officer on an initial 12-month fixed-term contract.

What You’ll Be Doing
In this important role, you’ll ensure timely and effective recovery of council tax and business rates by managing all stages of the recovery cycle. Your day-to-day duties will include:
<ul>
<li>Managing the full recovery process, including post-liability order actions</li>
<li>Processing and monitoring enforcement steps such as bailiff referrals, insolvency cases, and charging orders</li>
<li>Representing and supporting the Council at court, including liability order hearings and penalty notice applications</li>
<li>Building and maintaining relationships with external partners such as enforcement agents, solicitors, insolvency practitioners, and credit agencies</li>
<li>Handling communications with the public professionally and empathetically, both over the phone and in person</li>
<li>Ensuring compliance with the Council’s recovery policies and customer care standards</li>
<li>Supporting wider Revenues team activities as required</li>
<li>Performing other duties appropriate to the role at the direction of the management team</li>
</ul>

We’re seeking a proactive, flexible, and detail-oriented individual with a strong sense of professionalism and customer service. You’ll need to demonstrate:

<li>Experience or knowledge of revenue recovery processes</li>
<li>The ability to work independently and collaboratively</li>
<li>Confidence in representing the Council at formal proceedings</li>
<li>Excellent communication and organisational skills</li>
</ul>
This role requires regular attendance at the Woking Civic Offices and Court, but hybrid working is available when duties allow.

 The role is based within the Business Development Team who provides key support to these front line services and acts as a conduit between the services and Newham’s Corporate ServicesAbout the RoleThe post holder will work closely with the Business and Finance Manager on continual service delivery and improvements throughout the Repairs and Maintenance Service. The responsibilities or steps in performance management process vary broadly depending on the emphasis of performance efforts and the individual carrying it out.&nbsp;&nbsp;The post holder will also be responsible for providing relevant and timely advice to Directors and their Service Management Teams in their strategic decision making, and ensuring they receive effective and timely support and advice on all financial matters related to the development of RMS service strategies, service plans and service delivery.&nbsp;This role is suited to someone who likes to continuously review and improve processes, learning from feedback and best practise requirements.
