Recycling Officer

You will be based at one of our area housing offices working as part of a repairs support team supporting the Assistant Customer Repair Managers. You will be part of the Customer Repairs management team; previous management experience is not essential, and you will be supported to develop your skills and gain management experience using the ‘Systems Thinking’ methodology. You will be part of a team responsible for supporting the building maintenance service. The team assists us in meeting our purposes which are, to maintain and improve our properties, ensure the right repair is carried out at the right time and provide suitable homes when needed. You will support and deputise for the Assistant Customer Repairs Manager responsible for managing and leading a team of customer repairs officer within the call centre. This will include supervising the repairs support team as appropriate to ensure the repairs support team have capacity by allocating phone and admin tasks to effectively manage all demands received accurately and efficiently. You will be part of a team that manage repairs demand, raise repairs, arrange servicing, coordinate surveying appointments and undertake customer satisfaction surveys. We maintain a varied housing stock including a diverse range of corporate, operational, commercial and community assets. You will coach and mentor customer repairs officers to use our databases accurately, ensuring they are following our value steps, gathering clean clear information, asking effective questions ensuring that the right resource is allocated to undertake the repair at the right time that is convenient with the customer. You will also be required to support the team in busy periods by answering the calls and liaising with our service providers. You will assist in managing complex administration tasks such as demands raised through the shared inbox, by liaising with residents and varied building users in a timely manner ensuring that repairs raised are our responsibility. You will manage other administration tasks such a raising works orders and issuing tenders to contractors. Skills: Your application needs to demonstrate that you: 1.	Have experience of working in a call centre or challenging front line service 2.	Have knowledge of being part of a repairs service, receiving demand and raising repairs together with the ability to advise others. 3.	Have the ability to communicate effectively, develop relationships with residents and building occupiers, asking the right questions to get the information required, as well as someone who shows empathy for people who may be in difficult situations. 4. Senior Customer Repairs Officer

Residents in Sheltered Housing have a range of physical and mental health needs which means that they need our support to maintain their independence. You will work to achieve this as per the Sheltered Housing purpose. You will be working as a Cat 1 Scheme Manager providing advice and support to residents living in Cat 1 Sheltered Housing schemes in either the Portsea or Somerstown area. You will be based in this area and will have an office directly linked to the location or close by. You will also work closely with other Scheme Managers and will be paired with a buddy to ensure continuity of service in your absence. You will be expected to provide cover for your buddy's residents when they are not at work. Part of your role will mean meeting and greeting new residents, introducing them to the Cat 1 Sheltered Housing Service and making them aware of the service they can expect to receive. You will also act on any actions arising from ongoing issues in your regular contact with them. You will act as an advocate for residents when working with other agencies and you will be acting as a link to social services and mental health services. You will be responsible for ensuring the completion and updating of needs, risk and support plans and ensuring that identified follow up actions are taken. This may include offering advice and signposting to the correct agencies to help with financial issues including payment of rent and bills, arranging for support with daily chores and shopping and helping residents arrange repairs, where relevant You will also respond to incidents &amp; problems relating to the residents, to accurately record information and incident reports and liaise with members of the residents' families. Where appropriate you will have the responsibility for raising Safeguarding alerts. In addition, as the scheme manager you will also encourage social activities in the scheme. You will be expected to be able to use Microsoft 365 as a key part of the role is accessing and updating online resident records on a regular basis. As a scheme manager you will have overall responsibility for the security and safety in relation to the welfare of residents. You will also be responsible for carrying out pull cord checks in resident's homes to ensure that all equipment is in working order. You will form part of the Sheltered Housing Team. However, as a Cat 1 Scheme Manager you will spend a lot of your time as a lone worker in the scheme you are based. You will need to be confident in making on the spot decisions and following these through. You will also need to be flexible as you may be required to cover other schemes at short notice in the event of an emergency. Skills: 1.	Experience of working directly (face to face) with people. 2.	Have an understanding of the impact of physical and mental health issues experienced by older persons. 3.	Be a good listener with a calm manner, with the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English. 4.	Have the confidence to advocate for residents when needed and to work proactively with other professionals to achieve positive outcomes for residents. 5.	Have an awareness of the importance of confidentiality when working with residents, in particular regards to GDPR requirements. 6.	Be a strong team player and willing to support those in your team when they are facing challenges. 7.	Have an understanding of the need for you to maintain appropriate professional boundaries with residents that you are supporting. 8.	Have an understanding of the role of Social Services, Health Services and voluntary agencies in the provision of services to people and be able to work with them with the purpose of achieving the best outcome for service users. 9.	Have good written skills as you will need to be able to write concise notes in residents files, respond to complaints and compile reports, for example in relation to Safeguarding matters. 10. We are seeking a HRA Building Safety Manager to join the Compliance Service within Building Services of the Housing, Neighbourhood and Building Services (HNB) Directorate. The role will have responsibility for managing the Building Safety Team, ensuring the team delivers on critical areas of building safety and fire safety for both the Housing Revenue Account (HRA) and General Fund (GRA) assets. The building safety activities managed by the team are diverse and focus on activities arisen from the requirements of the Building Safety Act 2022, Regulatory Reform Fire Safety Order 2005, Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 and the Social Housing (Regulation) Act 2023. Candidates must be enthusiastic, good communicators and qualified Building Surveyors with extensive experience of providing a range of building surveying professional services, assisting with the creation of fire remediation programmes and managing consultant and building projects to both housing and corporate assets. Skills: 1.	Have extensive project management / delivery knowledge, a degree qualification in a relevant building surveying or construction related subject and have or working towards RICS or CIOB member status. Where a professional qualification is not held, candidate is to have extensive knowledge and experience in the area. Have or be willing to obtain a Level 6 Diploma in Building Safety Management. 2. We are looking for our next apprentice! This is an exciting opportunity to gain a Chartered Town Planner Masters degree whilst working and gaining hands on experience in planning. The post is for three years and for the first two (starting in September 2025) you will attend Brighton University for one day a week to undertake the degree apprentice qualification. In the work place you will have your own workload and undertake a range of planning tasks including assisting with the processing and validation of planning applications, writing reports on different types of applications, and assisting more senior team members in preparing their reports.
As you learn and develop your skills and knowledge you will be able to respond to enquiries from the public, carry out site visits and liaise with colleagues and external agencies. The role will adapt and&nbsp; develop across the three years so you will gain a good knowledge of the work of a planning department.
You will need a higher Second Class degree in an appropriate subject, or an equivalent qualification to be eligible for this apprenticeship and you cannot already have a masters degree. You will need to be accepted on to the course and be ready to start in September 2025.
The job is based at the Civic Centre in Littlehampton and this will be your contractual job location. However, it is likely there will be some working from home and so will need an appropriate space to work from.
Whilst not essential a driving licence/access to a car will help you get the most out of the job as it involves attending site visits, generally starting in the second year.
