<h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Private Rented Sector team in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government is recruiting a Senior Product Manager to lead the delivery of the Private Rented Sector Database, a key measure introduced through the Renter's Rights Act. This set of reforms is crucial to improving the private rented sector, as the lowest quality, least secure and least affordable of all tenures.</p><p>The database aims to drive housing standards in the sector by supporting landlords to understand their legal duties, providing essential information to local councils for enforcement purposes, and helping tenants make informed choices about which properties they let.</p><p>As a Senior Product Manager, you will lead product teams to design, build and deliver digital products and features that form the Private Rented Sector Database. This includes services to register landlords and letting agents, for tenants to view information about landlords, for local authorities to access the database, and administration interfaces. You will be working closely with policy, operations and other digital services to set the direction by balancing the objectives of Government and legislation with the needs of millions of landlords and tenants, thousands of letting agents, and hundreds of local authorities, among other user groups. The service will launch later this year, so you need to be confident delivery at pace. This work is shaped by an understanding of the wider housing and policy environment, and by constructive engagement across the sector, recognising differences in scale and operating context while keeping expectations clear and proportionate.</p><p>Externally, the Chief Executive represents RSH in relationships with ministers, Members of Parliament, select committees, investors and key partner organisations. The role requires credibility and confidence in formal settings, alongside the ability to build strong professional relationships grounded in trust, respect and shared responsibility.</p><h4>Person specification</h4><p>The successful candidate will bring senior leadership experience gained in a regulatory, public or comparably governed environment, where scrutiny is part of the landscape and decisions carry real consequence. Experience of social housing is not essential.
