Join Our Journey to Outstanding - Join the Leaving Care Service

The Lincolnshire Leaving Care Service is growing and evolving – and we want you to be part of our exciting journey. With a clear vision to achieve an outstanding service, we’re expanding our team and offering a permanent position within our leaving care accommodation team in Sleaford.

Due to recent changes in immigration law in the UK we are unable to offer skilled worker visa sponsorship for this role as it does not meet the requirements.

About the Role

Leaving Care is never easy for any young person, it is vital that any potential candidate can understand, recognise and manage risk and vulnerability to keep our young people safe. Safe and stable accommodation is a vital part of a young person's life and providing support and guidance to those homeless, or at risk of homelessness will be a major part of this role.

The Leaving Care service works with care leavers between the ages of 16 to 25, a time when they tackle the vulnerable period of time between adolescence and adulthood. As our care leavers travel towards a move on period from their child in care placement, it is essential that they are aware of their housing options, what their new accommodation may look like and how to manage the responsibilities that come with it. The role involves working closely with our care leavers, leaving care workers and housing partners to build that safe, stable home.

Working for Lincolnshire Children’s Services offers great support, regular supervision and a range of flexible working options. The successful postholder will cover a large part of Lincolnshire, Peterborough and on occasions will also complete work out of county.

Key Responsibilities

The aims and objectives of the role are:

  • To hold a caseload of young people who may be homeless or facing homelessness in the future, working alongside the leaving care worker and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
  • To liaise with District councils to complete duty to refer referrals and organise suitable emergency accommodation.
  • Manage and build a portfolio of local landlords who may be able to offer accommodation to care leavers over 18.
  • Provide support and advice to the leaving care and child in care teams.
  • Develop and deliver training guidance across the service and with partner agencies.
  • To understand local, national and service policies and procedures to ensure fair and consistent delivery of accommodation services to young people.

About You

We are looking to recruit a specialist worker who can offer, advice, guidance and assistance in relation to housing matters that can impact on Care Leavers.

The specialist post holder will need to have:

  • Knowledge of housing options for Care Leavers.
  • Knowledge of local and national housing procedures.
  • Knowledge of issues that can impact on Care Leavers.
  • Great communication skills that can easily be adapted.
  • A desire to help make a difference.

About Our Offer

Along with a competitive salary we are offering:

  • A Contributory pension
  • Comprehensive benefits package including excellent discount schemes and cycle to work
  • Flexible working policies
  • Career progression opportunities
  • A generous annual leave entitlement plus the option to buy more
