An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Homeless Prevention Officer to join our busy Housing Needs Team.
The emphasis of the post will be to prevent homelessness wherever possible by providing support for customers at threat of losing their homes in a range of situations, including negotiating with mortgage lenders, social and private landlords, and social and welfare support agencies, whilst taking into account the clients housing and support needs.
You will be working closely with housing needs officers to contribute to the decision-making process under the national legislation.
Experience of assessing needs and offering housing advice to the public, including achievement of appropriate solutions to housing needs problems is essential as is multi-agency and multi-disciplinary working in relation to housing needs.&nbsp; It is also essential you have experience of working with landlords to prevent evictions and to enable clients to access good quality private rented accommodation.
It is essential you have the ability to work under pressure in demanding situations, including working with customers in difficult and stressful circumstances.&nbsp; It is also essential you have the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

We are recruiting for permanent and fixed term Senior Homeless Officers to join our very busy Homeless Team, which has the responsibility for the prevention of homelessness and carrying out all the Council’s statutory homelessness duties.
As well as managing more complex cases as directed, and working with other voluntary and statutory partners, you will also be responsible for undertaking statutory Reviews and appeals in line with Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
You will provide senior officer case support to the Housing Solutions Officers within the team, ensuring that casework quality is of good quality and meets all necessary legal standards outlined in the Act and the associated code of guidance as well as deputising for the Housing Casework Manager as required.
To be successful, you should have experience of working with vulnerable people and other agencies and have knowledge and experience of housing - especially the legislation and statutory duties for local housing authorities working with homelessness.
The successful candidates will be based mainly at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford, working 37 hours per week, but will be required to work away from the office for some of the time. Hybrid working will become available once the successful applicants have been fully trained.

About The Role
This is an exciting opportunity to join Homelessness, Independence and Preventative Service, which adopts a preventative approach across the housing, health and social care agendas. Your primary focus will be to provide practical interventions and support to resettle individuals and families to enhance their ability to live independently.

About The Team You’ll Be Working In
This is an exciting and busy role that is at the centre of the Councils response to homelessness. The service is developing and progressing our agenda to reduce the use of temporary accommodation and achieve more upstream prevention outcomes.

<li>This role is to increase the supply of private rented and temporary accommodation for residents who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, under various different property procurement schemes being operated in the Hounslow borough.</li>
<li>You will carry out property inspections to ensure that landlords and property agents meet the required decent homes standards and sign-up tenancies across different tenures.</li>
<li>You will be provide a vetting and letting process to private landlords, arranging viewings and support homeless households in accepting accommodation in the private sector in discharge of the council’s housing duties.</li>
<li>You will ensure that accommodation complies with relevant standards and legislation and that supporting documentation is obtained and recorded.</li>
<li>You will ensure private rented tenancies are affordable for prospective tenants and suitable for their needs.</li>

About You
 1. You have experience of successfully increasing the supply of accommodation for residents who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
2. The role
Winchester City Council is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Neighbourhood Services Officer to join our dynamic Housing team, at a time when we are committed to focusing on reorganising our services to improve outcomes for our customers.
This is an opportunity to work within our local communities, across the 250 square miles of Winchester district, to support the management of safe and pleasant communal areas for our residents.
The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting the delivery of (non-technical) health and safety inspections and monitoring standards in communal areas of our council owned housing stock, including garage blocks and open spaces. You will provide a visible presence for our tenants and leaseholders, working with them and internal departments to maintain and improve standards.
The post holder will also be key in supporting the service with delivering on Consumer Standards.

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Assistant Technical Officer based in the Council’s multi award winning Home Improvement Agency. The Private Sector Housing Team’s role is to improve the standard of private sector properties through grant assistance, enforcement action, education and advice. The types of properties we deal with include HMOs, single dwellings, empty properties, blocks of flats and caravans. This 18-month fixed term post includes the undertaking of the Regulatory Compliance Officer Level 4 Apprenticeship (Housing) alongside your day-to-day role.
As a Regulatory Compliance Officer, you will support landlords and tenants, ensuring their homes meet health and safety standards. You will also support the Team in carrying out enforcement activities when necessary. This role involves assessing customer queries, compiling and evaluating evidence through research, intelligence and information gathering, conducting property visits, and providing advice, guidance and enforcement to ensure compliance with housing regulations. The diverse and dynamic nature of the work means that every case is different. Whether its investigating poor housing conditions and unlicensed HMOs or checking compliance with licence conditions and other regulatory requirements, this position will offer you the opportunity to develop a wide range of skills, knowledge and experience in the field.
You will be fully supported by the team and will have the opportunity to expand your knowledge and skills through both internal and external training. Over the course of your apprenticeship, you will develop the confidence to take on your own caseload under the guidance of senior officers. There is an expectation that twenty percent of the Officer’s time will be spent completing ‘off the job’ training or studying for the duration of the course (expected to be 14-16 months). It will be a condition of any employment offer that you are accepted onto the Level 4 Course. Satisfactory completion of the qualification and fixed term post may lead to an opportunity to apply for the role as a permanent Private Sector Housing Officer within the Team.

We’re looking for a Specialist Housing Coordinator to join our team and help deliver high-quality, customer-focused support to our Specialist Housing Officers.
