You will be based at one of the Area Housing Offices working as part of the Customer Repairs team reporting directly to the Senior Customer Repairs Officer and Assistant Customer Repairs Manager The Customer Repairs Officer role will be supporting the Building Repairs teams providing a repairs service. You will work flexibly in a call centre and be part of a rota which is regularly reviewed and adjusted appropriately to meet the demands of the service undertaking your contracted hours. You will act as the main point of contact for residents, leaseholders, PCC employees and site managers who are requesting repairs. You will need to be able to collect accurate repair information and ask effective questions ensuring that the right resource is allocated to undertake the repair at the right time that is convenient with the customer. You will also support all the Building Repairs teams providing a repairs service by carrying out a range of technical administrative duties including, updating repairs following authorisation of quotes, customer satisfaction surveys, administering Disabled Facility Grants (DFG) requests, uploading information to our stock database, arranging surveyor and annual service appointments. As an Out of Hours Officer, you will work exclusively outside of standard office hours on a rota basis, including evenings, nights, weekends, and public holidays. This is a hands-on, mobile role that requires flexibility, independence, and a strong sense of responsibility. The role is a blend of desk-based and mobile work. You’ll spend a significant portion of your time in the office, answering calls, logging cases, and coordinating responses using multiple IT systems. At the same time, you’ll also be expected to attend properties across the city—responding to emergencies such as alarm activations, welfare checks, cleaning requests, and access issues. You’ll often work independently, making real-time decisions and problem-solving on the spot. Clear communication is essential. You’ll also be trained to use lifting equipment to assist residents who may have fallen, and you’ll need to be comfortable working in a variety of environments and situations. We are recruiting for permanent and fixed term Senior Homeless Officers to join our very busy Homeless Team, which has the responsibility for the prevention of homelessness and carrying out all the Council’s statutory homelessness duties.
As well as managing more complex cases as directed, and working with other voluntary and statutory partners, you will also be responsible for undertaking statutory Reviews and appeals in line with Part VII Housing Act 1996 (as amended).
You will provide senior officer case support to the Housing Solutions Officers within the team, ensuring that casework quality is of good quality and meets all necessary legal standards outlined in the Act and the associated code of guidance as well as deputising for the Housing Casework Manager as required.
To be successful, you should have experience of working with vulnerable people and other agencies and have knowledge and experience of housing - especially the legislation and statutory duties for local housing authorities working with homelessness.
The successful candidates will be based mainly at the Civic Centre in Chelmsford, working 37 hours per week, but will be required to work away from the office for some of the time. Hybrid working will become available once the successful applicants have been fully trained.

The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a part time Assistant Technical Officer based in the Council’s multi award winning Home Improvement Agency. The postholder will support the Technical Officers to deliver services aimed at supporting private sector vulnerable residents, undertaking repairs and disabled adaptations to their homes.
You will have experience of surveying residential properties and supervising building works. You should hold a minimum of a Higher National Qualification in a building related subject, or equivalent relevant experience.&nbsp;
The post holder will have the ability to work with minimal supervision and be capable of prioritising workloads. You will have direct contact with colleagues in other services, key partner organisations and members of the public.&nbsp; You will have excellent numeracy, keyboard and communication skills and will be committed to high standards of customer service.
A full current UK driving licence is essential, as the post holder will be required to carry out home visits throughout the district.&nbsp;
The hours of work for this position are 22.2 hours per week, flexible working hours between Monday to Friday 9.00 until 5.00 pm. This post will be classed as a hybrid worker with the ability to work from home and council sites within the district.

The role
Winchester City Council is seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Neighbourhood Services Officer to join our dynamic Housing team, at a time when we are committed to focusing on reorganising our services to improve outcomes for our customers.
This is an opportunity to work within our local communities, across the 250 square miles of Winchester district, to support the management of safe and pleasant communal areas for our residents.
The successful candidate will be part of a team supporting the delivery of (non-technical) health and safety inspections and monitoring standards in communal areas of our council owned housing stock, including garage blocks and open spaces. You will provide a visible presence for our tenants and leaseholders, working with them and internal departments to maintain and improve standards.
The post holder will also be key in supporting the service with delivering on Consumer Standards.

The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team, offer a proactive attitude and demonstrate a commitment to high standards for our customers. You will also be a good communicator, self-motivated, able to problem-solve and have a customer-centred approach to your work.
The role of the Neighbourhood Services Officer will include:
o Undertaking non-technical health and safety inspections in communal areas of our housing stock, including testing fire safety measures;
o Reporting repairs and other defects;
o Ensuring all communal areas remain safe and clear of obstructions and taking appropriate action to enforce this;
o Supporting the monitoring of cleaning and grounds maintenance contracts;
o Supporting residents with advice on matters relating to their block, including fire safety and use of communal areas;
o Liaising with and supporting other teams in respect of tenancy breaches;
o Contributing to the landlord’s health and safety compliance actions;
o Identifying estate improvement works.
Qualification &amp; other requirements for the role
o Previous experience of working in neighbourhood and estate management is desirable, as well as experience in working in a customer focused role.
o As this is a predominantly site-based role, candidates must be capable of meeting the physical and travel demands of the position.
o You will be required to wear a uniform and drive a fleet vehicle at work.
o You will also be subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check.

You will have experience of problem solving and working with a diverse clientele within a housing environment.&nbsp; Excellent negotiating skills with the ability to communicate effectively with customers and other stakeholders is vital for this role.
<h3>About the team…</h3>
You will be joining a dynamic, friendly and solution-based Housing Options Team delivering proactive advice and assistance to households who are homeless or threatened with homelessness.
The work is fast paced and innovative, sometimes the work is challenging however there is also time for finding creative solutions and every day is different.
You will work alongside the Rough Sleeper and Single Homelessness Team whose mission it is to eradicate rough sleeping in Bracknell Forest.
<h3>Key responsibilities…</h3>
<ul>
<li>As a Housing Options Officer you will be responsible for providing help and comprehensive advice to households who are either homeless or at risk of becoming homeless by assisting them to retain their existing accommodation or secure alternative housing.</li>
<li>To consider and assess homelessness applications in accordance with the Housing Act 1996 Part VII (as amended by the Homeless Act 2002 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017).</li>
<li>To provide a customer focused approach ensuring that a full housing needs assessment has been undertaken, all statutory notifications and Personal Housing Plans are published to help customers secure housing.</li>
<li>In addition, you will be working in partnership with other specialist agencies, including children and adult services, probation, hospitals and voluntary organisations, to prevent homelessness.</li>
