We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Housing Solutions Prevention Officer. Your role will be to work closely with key partners on the early identification of households who might be at risk of homelessness and provide a comprehensive homelessness prevention service, using advice and guidance with the aim of finding solutions for households who are at risk of homelessness and prevent homelessness from happening.
The post holder will be required to work collaboratively with the Housing Solutions Officers, Temporary Accommodation Service, and the Allocations Service to ensure a high-quality customer focused, service is offered to all customers.
You will have recent experience of working in a homeless prevention or housing advice/options role with a local authority, Registered Social Landlord, homeless charity or similar. Above all you will be self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision, possess excellent communication skills and have the enthusiasm to help others overcome their problems.

You will be based at one of our area housing offices working as part of a repairs support team supporting the Assistant Customer Repair Managers. You will be part of the Customer Repairs management team; previous management experience is not essential, and you will be supported to develop your skills and gain management experience using the ‘Systems Thinking’ methodology. You will be part of a team responsible for supporting the building maintenance service. The team assists us in meeting our purposes which are, to maintain and improve our properties, ensure the right repair is carried out at the right time and provide suitable homes when needed. Residents in Sheltered Housing have a range of physical and mental health needs which means that they need our support to maintain their independence. You will work to achieve this as per the Sheltered Housing purpose. You will be working as a Cat 1 Scheme Manager providing advice and support to residents living in Cat 1 Sheltered Housing schemes in either the Portsea or Somerstown area. You will be based in this area and will have an office directly linked to the location or close by. You will also work closely with other Scheme Managers and will be paired with a buddy to ensure continuity of service in your absence. You will be expected to provide cover for your buddy's residents when they are not at work. Part of your role will mean meeting and greeting new residents, introducing them to the Cat 1 Sheltered Housing Service and making them aware of the service they can expect to receive. You will also act on any actions arising from ongoing issues in your regular contact with them. You will act as an advocate for residents when working with other agencies and you will be acting as a link to social services and mental health services. You will be responsible for ensuring the completion and updating of needs, risk and support plans and ensuring that identified follow up actions are taken. This may include offering advice and signposting to the correct agencies to help with financial issues including payment of rent and bills, arranging for support with daily chores and shopping and helping residents arrange repairs, where relevant You will also respond to incidents &amp; problems relating to the residents, to accurately record information and incident reports and liaise with members of the residents' families. You will be expected to be able to use Microsoft 365 as a key part of the role is accessing and updating online resident records on a regular basis. You should have experience leading a team, preferably in a social housing environment, either as a supplier or as part of an in-house service. Your background in contract administration and commercial management, ideally with NEC contracts, will be invaluable. You should be adept at managing framework call-offs and identifying suitable framework solutions for services, works, and materials. Your ability to manage a diverse supply chain and contract conditions, coupled with your financial management skills, will drive the development of management reports that inform decision-making. You should have good working knowledge of landlord and tenant law, and the processes surrounding legal disrepair, is important. You will thrive in a challenging, high-energy environment that requires the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
