Information Governance provides service support and guidance on the UK General Data Protection Regulations (UK GDPR), Data Protection Act (DPA) 2018, Freedom of Information Act 2000, Environmental Information Regulations (EIR) and Records Management.
The role will work to the Councils Deputy Data Protection Officer, supporting the Councils Statutory Data Protection Officer in ensuring that the Council meets a high level of compliance with data protection law and in embedding a culture of data protection and information security within the Council.
Duties include:

<li>Advising on all data protection issues within the Council including assessment and mitigation of risk, giving advice and guidance to staff and external partners and providers where appropriate.</li>
<li>To ensure all schools in Knowsley that sign up to the Councils Information Governance Service Level Agreement meet a high level of compliance with data protection law and information security.</li>
<li>To provide advice and guidance in respect of Data Protection Act/UK General Data Protection Regulations, Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Regulations requests particularly in respect of the lawful use of exemptions/exceptions.</li>
<li>To assist the Councils Statutory Data Protection Officer in dealing with complaints and/or requests from the Information Commissioners Office.</li>

The following essential experience /qualifications are required for the role:

<li>Relevant degree preferably in Data Protection or Information Management, or</li>
<li>Accredited Data Protection Qualification such as BCS-Practitioner/ISEB Certificate/CIPP-E, and</li>
<li>Expert knowledge of the UK General Data Protection Regulation, the Data Protection Act 2018 and related legislation, guidance and best practice.</li>
<li>Extensive knowledge of best practice in relation to Information Sharing and Data Processing Agreements.</li>
<li>Expert knowledge of relevant Information Rights legislation such as the Freedom Information Act, Environmental Information Regulation and Local Government Transparency Code.</li>
<li>Experience of data protection and information governance within a large organisation.</li>
<li>Experience of providing advice and assistance on dealing with Subject Access Requests and Requests for Disclosure from external organisations.</li>

About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Property Lawyer&nbsp;to join our Legal Services team, supporting both Waverley Borough Council and Guildford Borough Council. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a diverse range of property-related legal matters and contribute to projects that make a real difference in our communities.
You will provide high-quality legal advice and transactional support across all property matters, including housing, Right to Buy, shared ownership, and other areas of council business. The role involves both contentious and non-contentious work, attending committees and working groups, and advising officers and members at all levels.
Key Responsibilities
<ul>
<li>Deliver timely, accurate legal advice on property law and related matters.</li>
<li>Manage a varied caseload, including property transactions and housing-related issues.</li>
<li>Draft, review, and negotiate legal agreements, notices, and other documents.</li>
<li>Attend council committees and working groups, providing legal guidance (including occasional evening meetings).</li>
<li>Prepare cases for court, inquiries, or hearings and represent the council or instruct external counsel.</li>
<li>Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation and case law.</li>
<li>Support and mentor junior colleagues within Legal Services.</li>

About You

<li>Qualified Solicitor, Barrister, or Chartered Legal Executive with a current practising certificate.</li>

Surrey Heath Borough Council is looking to recruit a Senior Solicitor or Legal Executive to join the Legal Services team based in Camberley. The role is suitable for a commercial property solicitor or Legal Executive with over 4 years PQE.
Over the last nine years, the Council has acquired a commercial property investment portfolio of significant financial and community value in order to increase income to help maintain services and to further its regeneration plans for the borough. The Council owns a range of properties including a shopping centre, various industrial estates, business parks and office buildings as well as its operational buildings and other land.
The work will involve a wide range of non-contentious matters, focusing on landlord and tenant work relating to the retail property portfolio, but will also include advising on other types of commercial property matters, proposed development sites and other Council matters as appropriate.
The Council is looking for a candidate who can progress property transactions, working collaboratively with the Council’s property team and with minimal supervision and has the confidence to tackle a variety of other matters. Sefton Metropolitan Council is seeking to appoint a part time 3 days per week Area Coroner. This is a new post.
 About the post: The Area Coroner will work closely with the Senior Coroner to provide judicial leadership to the coroner team as well as conducting their own coroner investigations and inquests. The area coroner is the nominated deputy for the Senior Coroner when the Senior Coroner is absent. The Area Coroner will be expected to be available out of hours on a rota based system.  Sefton Metropolitan Council is looking for an exceptional candidate with excellent proven organisational, management and efficiency skills, as well as experience of exercising sound judgement and communicating effectively. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Coroner and local authority manager to ensure value for money, performance and financial efficiencies. Collaborative working with the Senior Coroner, local authority, the police and other stakeholders is essential.
 You will be required to demonstrate knowledge and experience of coronial law and of basic medicine have proven skills in conducting investigations and an understanding of court procedure. You will also need to demonstrate the excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary to deal with sensitive situations.
 It is desirable that the successful candidate has proven experience of running or sharing running a coroner’s jurisdiction including carrying out investigations, case management, and conducting inquests.
 Who can apply: The successful candidate will be a barrister or a solicitor or Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives and satisfy the judicial-appointment eligibility condition which means they will have five years of experience whilst holding that qualification. They will be under the age of 75, have experience of working as an assistant coroner or area coroner and be subject to the appointment and eligibility conditions within the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 (s.23 and Schedule 3).
 Statutory Terms of the Appointment: Once a Coroner is appointed they are then a Judicial Office holder until they reach the age of 75 years (compulsory retirement age) unless they choose to resign or are removed by the Lord Chief Justice or Lord Chancellor prior to their 75th birthday.
