About the team
The Civil Society and Sport unit is part of the community and skills directorate. Its activities support the delivery of three main mandates: Supporting and Inspiring young London, Celebrating London and Supporting Londoners to benefit from growth.
The mandate focused activity around supporting and investing young people includes our collaborative sports fund Go! London in partnership with London Marathon group and Sport England, our work with the violence reduction unit to use sport as a as a way of improving young people's life chances and all work with US sports brands such as the NBA and NFL as well as other UK based brands like the LTA. Our work within the Celebrating London mandate focuses on enabling volunteer good practice and ensuring that volunteering is inclusive and accessible to all.
About the role
The postholder will lead the Strategy and Partnerships sub-team within the Civil Society and Sport Unit. This role is a member of the Unit SLT and responsible for the sub-team responsible for Communications, Strategy Planning, Governance, Partnerships, and special projects.
The postholder will work in collaboration with relevant stakeholders, to retain and grow external partnership investment into the mayor's work in civil society and sport, the Supporting and Investing in Young London mandate and the Supporting Londoners to benefit from Growth mandate. The post holder will be accountable for overseeing governance, strategic planning and research as well as developing approaches to maximising external investment into the unit and the mandates from partners such as Sport England, London Marathon, VRU, NBA, NFL and LTA.
What your day will look like
The role is a varied one, involving both line management responsibility and working with internal and external stakeholders.

<h2>Skills, knowledge and experience</h2>
To be considered for the role you must meet the following essential criteria and competencies:

<li>Managing and developing performance: Substantial experience of a senior management role which has included line management and leading a team, working in a collaborative and collegiate way to deliver against shared objectives.</li>
<li>Organisational awareness: A strong understanding of the issues associated with working in a complex political environment and the ability to negotiate and broker consensus within an organisation, as well as externally.</li>
<li>Stakeholder Focus: Experience of leading on large scale complex multi partner projects from development and initiation to operationalisation and delivery, working in a partnership environment.</li>
<li>Strategic thinking: Experience in the field of collaborative funding, working with corporates in the corporate social responsibility sector and/or in business and public sector/charity partnerships&nbsp; in the areas of sport and community related projects and programmes, and voluntary and community sector networks is highly desirable.</li>

Senior Manager, Partnerships and Strategy

Good Growth is responsible for delivering and implementing the Mayor’s environment, transport and economic strategies and for the effective implementation of the London Plan. The Directorate is also responsible for regeneration (where the programme is not housing led), enterprise, growth, capital projects and design work.
<h2>About the role</h2>

The Mayor wants to make London a zero-carbon city by 2030, while at the same time protecting the most disadvantaged by tackling fuel poverty. Londoners currently face one of the greatest cost of living challenges we have ever seen due to record energy prices. Through his programmes, the Mayor is scaling up energy efficiency retrofit, increasing renewable power generation, helping to cut energy bills, reducing fuel poverty, and planning for the smart flexible energy system of the future. This post will play a crucial role in achieving this.
The post holder will support the delivery of a portfolio of environment and energy projects and programmes through data analysis and advice. We expect the post holder to provide cross-cutting data analysis for the Energy Unit to inform policy, strategy and programme delivery. The role will also entail managing two GLA owned datasets (e.g., London Building Stock Model, London Solar Opportunity Map) and delivering improvements to these datasets in order to better to support the delivery of energy projects from both within and beyond the Energy Unit and the GLA.

What your day will look like

<li>Lead on energy data analysis for the Energy Unit to inform policy design, project delivery and reporting/evaluation of net zero projects across the Energy Unit’s portfolio.</li>
<li>Maintain and manage the London Building Stock Model and the London Solar Opportunity Map – including scoping out potential improvements, stakeholder engagement and delivery.</li>

<li>Manage the activities of programme and project delivery contractors, act as required to achieve delivery within the allocated budgets and contracted time-scales and standards of performance in respect of quality/specification.</li>

The Mayor of London and ReLondon (a partnership of the Mayor of London and London’s local authorities) is committed to improve waste and resource management in the capital and accelerate our transition to a low carbon circular city. ReLondon’s mission is to make London a global leader in sustainable ways to live, work and prosper by helping London waste less and reuse, repair, share and recycle more.
Over the last fifteen years, ReLondon has helped provide additional recycling capacity in London; helped local authorities provide efficient waste services; and, against a backdrop of declining recycling rates nationally, helped London maintain its recycling performance. ReLondon works with a multitude of individuals and organisations in London, across the UK and around the world, and has become recognised as a world leader in Circular Economy thinking and practice.
ReLondon is looking to develop and diversify their income streams to include more commercial offers and paid for services, as well as targeted statutory funding. This is an area of work which needs growth in order to be financially sustainable and deliver against statutory objectives. It is a significant challenge and so we are seeking leaders in this field to bring their knowledge, skills and experience of developing successful income streams in similar organisations in the public or NGO sectors.
Main purpose of the role
ReLondon’s Board develop the overall strategic direction of ReLondon (the London Waste and Recycling Board); promote ReLondon’s vision, values and culture and to help ensure the implementation strategic plans; and provide good governance and make strategic decisions on the allocation of resources.
The Board is responsible for developing strategy, providing good governance and directing ReLondon towards achieving its mission. They are advised by the Strategic Resources Committee on financial and people matters but decisions are made by the Board.
You will need to attend four formal Board meetings per year, plus occasional workshops to develop the organisation’s strategy and business plans. Meetings will be a mix of hybrid and in person.
Whilst you do not need to be an expert in circular economy or waste and resources, interest and a passion to tackle climate change will be required.

 About the role</h2>
The role will be the single point of contact for London, working with regional stakeholders to support the coordination of refugee resettlement in London. This includes working with boroughs and central government departments to generate new offers of support, provide advice and guidance on policy and practice, help resolve challenges, and enable strong partnership working.
This role is covering a sabbatical and the post holder would need to start the position ideally on 1 September 2025 with the contract ending on 31 August 2026.

<h2>What your day will look like</h2>

<li>You will extensively engage with central government, London boroughs and other partners to support refugee resettlement policy development and operational processes, to enable the successful placement and integration journey for those on the Afghan Resettlement Programme (ARP), UK Resettlement Scheme (UKRS) and Mandate scheme. This will include providing frequent policy and operational advice and guidance to borough officers and central government to enable collaborative working across all parties.</li>
<li>You will support central government, London boroughs and lead organisations with the further development of Community Sponsorship and Communities for Afghans schemes in London, building on national and international best practice. This will include developing and implementing relevant policies, processes, structures and resources to support community sponsorship and resettlement.&nbsp;</li>
<li>You will line manage a Project Officer, providing oversight and support with managing resource and capacity.</li>
<li>You will work closely with the Project Officer to develop and manage offers of support for refugee resettlement from boroughs. This includes property offers and pledges.</li>
<li>You will manage reactive and competing demands and requests from stakeholders, responding to both short- and long-term policy changes or operational challenges.</li>
<li>You will participate in multi-disciplinary, cross-department and cross-organisational groups and project teams both internal and external to the GLA relating to refugee resettlement and migration.</li>
<li>Through strong relationship management, you will provide support and guidance to London boroughs, sustaining a network of boroughs (and other stakeholders where appropriate) to enable peer learning and cross-organisational collaboration. This will include chairing regional meetings with central government, local authorities and other partners. You will set out the case for improvements to existing resettlement schemes to central Government team based on feedback from participating boroughs.</li>

About the Role You will be responsible for the growth, delivery, and implementation of a commercial waste service within the Borough of Newham. This will include trade services, food waste collection service and other service deliverables that generate income. We are looking for someone to build on our well established commercial waste service to maintain the current momentum, promote our range of new services and challenge and look at different ways of growing the business. You will be expected to promote marketing and commercial initiatives that will enable the services to expand and grow in line with customer and business requirements and to continually investigate and source additional income streams that will generate income and improve services to existing customers. You will need to maintain and improve customer and service delivery levels and work with financial teams to ensure a cost effective pricing structure is in place with accurate billing, collection of fees and debt recovery if required. About You We are looking for someone with experience of working in a commercial environment, where it is important to be knowledgeable about the services offered, be confident on service delivery and be able to demonstrate an effective value for money service. With strong business acumen, relationship building and negotiation skills, you will have a natural ability to get to know customers and to understand their requirements, providing a high level, solutions based service. You will need good analytical/mathematical skills, working with colleagues in order to set prices and service standards. The Operational Services Division of Epsom &amp; Ewell Borough Council is looking for dedicated individuals to drive and supervise refuse and recycling collection vehicles, ensuring a timely, high quality, safe, friendly and efficient service to our residents.
Epsom &amp; Ewell Borough Council collects almost 120,000 refuse and recycling containers each week.&nbsp; Over half of all collected waste is recycled. You will be the primary driver of a vehicle up to 26 tonnes in support of the Council’s refuse and recycling collections. You will be responsible for its activities and crew, ensuring their safety and that all tasks are completed efficiently and within set timelines. You will undertake daily vehicle checks, ensuring you comply with all procedures relating to its use and report any defects. You must be able to work safely on your own, and methodically as part of a team as you will also be required to help the crew with emptying refuse and recycling bins. You will be flexible, as you will be required to work early mornings and bank holidays. You will be able to communicate effectively and politely with the public.&nbsp;
You must already possess a valid LGV licence category C and a valid Driver CPC qualification. You will be required to bring both your licence and Driver CPC photocards to the interview. Full, ongoing Driver CPC training is provided as part of the role.

The job involves driving a HGV refuse collection vehicle, being responsible for routine inspections, maintenance and cleansing of the vehicle.&nbsp; As part of the role you will complete all necessary paperwork and lead and also assist a small team involved in the collection of refuse.&nbsp;
