We are seeking a proactive and confident Open Spaces Engagement Officer with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to join our Environment &amp; Climate Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in supporting the Council’s environmental objectives through the provision of high quality open spaces, community engagement and the encouragement of events and activities in our parks.  What You’ll Be Doing

<li>Supporting event organisers with documentation and guidance on safety measures.</li>
<li>Promoting best practices for event safety and legal responsibilities.</li>
<li>Carrying out site inspections before, during, and after events to ensure safety and quality of open spaces (including occasional weekend work).</li>
<li>Liaising with community groups, event organisers, council departments, and external agencies.</li>
<li>Attending ESAG (Event Safety Advisory Group) meetings and coordinating reviews of event proposals and risks.</li>
<li>Assisting with funding bids to support open space projects and events.</li>
<li>Providing information and interpretation services about open spaces.</li>
<li>Inspecting and maintaining signage, notice boards, footpaths, and trails.</li>
<li>Conducting daily visual inspections of children’s play equipment and maintaining records.</li>
<li>Monitoring and recording usage of habitats, facilities, and the wider environment.</li>
<li>Supporting and supervising volunteers, community groups, and temporary employment schemes.</li>
<li>Contributing to the development and delivery of open space management plans and Green Flag assessments.</li>

 What You’ll Bring:

Do you have a passion for nature, conservation and community engagement? We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Country Parks Officer to play an integral role in managing and protecting some of Hastings’ most valuable and biodiverse green spaces.
About Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve
Hastings Country Park Nature Reserve is the largest area of publicly owned and managed land in the Borough. It is a designated Local Nature Reserve which includes a nationally designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), internationally designated Special Area of Conservation (SAC), farmland, ancient woodland, and a Country Park.
About the role
As our Country Parks Officer, you will be responsible for delivering high quality site management and maintenance across Hastings Country Nature Reserve and other nature reserves throughout the borough. You will apply specialist knowledge and practical skills to implement and monitor the delivery of countryside stewardship grants at the reserve, and act as the principle on-site point of contact and liaison for members of the public and community groups, advocating and explaining site management priorities.
Working with partners, you will develop and co-ordinate a programme of volunteer and community engagement events and activities.
This role requires high levels of knowledge and expertise on management of nature reserves and habitats. You will need relevant qualifications in countryside management, or experience related to countryside management, ecology and wildlife activities and practical experience of nature reserve management, countryside stewardship and access management.

We are looking for an organised and proactive Assistant Grounds Maintenance Client Officer to help manage the Council’s Grounds Maintenance contract. Working within the Parks and Amenities team, you will assist with inspections, contract monitoring, and administration, ensuring our parks, play areas, and open spaces are maintained to a high standard.
The role involves site visits, complaint handling, and providing support for improvement projects. You will need substantial experience in administration and contract management, along with a full driving licence and access to a vehicle.
