  • About The Role -

We are recruiting for a Project Support Officer, to support the Residents’ Hub transformation programme.

This is a Fixed Term Contract for 15 months, 21 hours per week

Tower Hamlets is a diverse and vibrant borough in the heart of London. Tower Hamlets Council has big ambitions to improve the lives of the 332,000 residents who call our borough home. With high levels of deprivation and significant differences in life outcomes between neighbourhoods, providing accessible, local face-to-face services is essential to tackling inequality. Many residents face digital, language or other barriers to accessing services, making face-to-face support a critical route to resolving issues, accessing support and building trust in the Council.

The Residents' Hub Transformation Programme is a major transformation initiative that will redesign how residents access council and partner services across the borough. We are developing a new place-based service model that brings services together locally, creates simpler customer journeys, improves access to support and increases resolution at first contact. The programme is underpinned by a commitment to tackling inequality, improving resident outcomes and delivering services in a way that works for our communities.

The Project Support Officer role is suited to an organised and proactive individual with experience supporting projects, programmes or transformation activity.

You will provide essential programme coordination and administrative support to the Transformation Portfolio Manager and wider programme team, helping to ensure the programme runs effectively and efficiently. You will play a key role in supporting governance, reporting, planning and stakeholder engagement activities, enabling the wider team to focus on delivery.

You will maintain programme documentation, reporting frameworks and project records, ensuring information is accurate, accessible and up to date. You will support the collection and analysis of data, helping to monitor progress, track actions and inform programme decision-making.

You will organise and support a range of meetings, including preparing agendas, coordinating papers, taking minutes and following up actions. You will work closely with workstream leads and stakeholders across the organisation to monitor progress and ensure actions are completed.

The role will also provide opportunities to lead or support discrete pieces of project work, undertake research, coordinate engagement activity and contribute to the delivery of key programme products and deliverables.

Working across a high-profile transformation programme, you will gain exposure to a broad range of stakeholders and activities while helping to shape the future of resident access to services in Tower Hamlets.

    About you

    • We are looking for people with a track record of supporting the team to deliver complex transformation programmes, preferably in a local government context
    • You will have excellent project management and administrative capabilities and will be great at building relationships.

    • Generous annual leave: 29 days, plus bank holidays and 3 additional days at Christmas (subject to pro rata calculation)
    • Flexible and agile working to support work life balance
    • Staff money-saving schemes (e.g., rent deposit loans, season ticket loans).
