Description

Make your experience count, join Derbyshire Constabulary!

At Derbyshire Constabulary we pride ourselves on recognising people with real potential. That’s why we offer our officers so much support, motivation and training because, as they improve, so will our force.

Derbyshire is a predominantly rural area which includes large parts of the Peak District National Park, offering opportunities for an outdoor lifestyle and an enhanced quality of life. However, we also have vibrant urban centres in the city of Derby and the town of Chesterfield and our central location, with excellent transport links and trains taking you to London in 90 minutes, suits those who also enjoy the city life or like to escape and travel on their rest days.

Whether you want to specialise in a particular area of policing, or progress through the ranks, our experienced leaders can help you to reach your goals. All you have to do is bring us your talent, dedication and enthusiasm and we’ll welcome you to the team.

Currently we have vacancies within the following areas of the Crime Directorate. There may be additional vacancies available within other departments in due course and wherever possible we will look to accommodate requests in order of preference considering this alongside operational needs.

  • Child Investigation Team (Based at Chesterfield and Derby)
  • Rape and Serious Sexual Offences Unit (Based at Chesterfield and Derby)
  • High Risk Domestic Abuse (Based at Chesterfield and Derby)
  • Exploitation Team(s)- Based at Ripley
  • Missing Person Investigation Team- Based at Ripley
  • Force Surveillance Team- Based at Ripley (Must be Q1 trained)
  • We also have vacancies within the Major Crime Unit (Homicide) based at St Mary's Wharf Police Station (Derbyshire Major Crime Unit works in collaboration with EMSOU regional partners forces and as such there is a requirement to attend other forces and support Homicide investigations across the region as well as within Derbyshire)

Other roles may become available across the Organisation

If you are high performing and looking for a new challenge, then this could be the place for you.

In return, as a detective officer transferring from a Home Office Police Force, you will retain:

  • Your previous service and current levels of pay (excluding force specific benefits i.e. London weighting).
  • Annual leave entitlement, as long as there is no break in service.
  • Your current pension arrangements.

The must haves

  • Substantive in the rank of constable.
  • Be a member of a Home Office force or Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) or Police Scotland (please note we cannot accept an application to transfer from an officer serving with a non-Home Office police force).
  • Evidence of completion of ICIDP and competency at PIP level 2.
  • Experience of working in a PIP level 2 environment.
  • Have a full manual driving licence.
  • Prepared to use own vehicle and undertake assessment to drive Derbyshire police vehicles.
  • Have no outstanding discipline or integrity issues.
  • Have an in date job related fitness test (JRFT) and Public and Personal Safety Training (PPST).
