As a CIDVA you will support the screening of domestic abuse referrals, enhancing the analysis of risk by gathering information regarding the voice of the child, and supporting a formulation of a safety plan where required. You will also play a pivotal role in the MultI Agency Risk Assessment (MARAC) . This will require you to work alongside a range of professionals developing an enhanced response to domestic abuse. You will require excellent communication skills which enables you to converse with professionals, families and young people impacted by domestic abuse.</p>\n<p>The right candidate will have detailed knowledge around the impact of domestic abuse, and relevant safeguarding practices, to a level in which you can advise and support other professionals for example in their use of language or risk assessment factors.</p>\n<p>This is a new and developing role, which enables the right candidate to demonstrate initiative in developing the role of a CIDVA, to ensure impact in the right services areas and ultimately with the main goal of improving outcomes for children impacted by domestic abuse. Strengthening the voice and influence of underrepresented children — including Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC), disabled children, and those impacted by trauma — is at the heart of this role.</p>\n<p>We are committed to building platforms that centre the lived experiences of those who are often unheard and ensuring their voices inform the services they use.</p>\n<p><strong>What You’ll Do</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build, support and grow meaningful participation forums such as the Youth Council, family engagement groups, and care-experienced networks.</li>\n<li>Work with children, young people and families to create safe, inclusive spaces where they can influence decisions that affect their lives.</li>\n<li>Champion underrepresented voices — including disabled children, young carers, children with social care involvement, those in out-of-area placements, and Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC).</li>\n<li>Strengthen engagement pathways for UASC and other minoritised young people, ensuring their experiences are reflected in service development.</li>\n<li>Support children and young people to co-deliver training for professionals, helping to shift practice through lived experience.</li>\n<li>Collaborate across services — including social workers, carers, schools, and community partners — to embed family and youth voice into policy and service design.</li>\n<li>Co-produce an annual impact report to celebrate change led by families and young people.</li>\n<li>Promote participation as a key pillar of a trauma-informed, restorative Sefton.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What You Bring</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A background in social care, education, youth work, or community engagement — or equivalent experience.</li>\n<li>A commitment to inclusion, equality, and co-production in practice.</li>\n<li>An understanding of the challenges faced by children, young people and families — especially those who are care-experienced, disabled, unaccompanied, or impacted by trauma and migration.</li>\n<li>Experience facilitating group work and building trusting relationships with families and professionals alike.</li>\n<li>A creative, curious and reflective approach to improving outcomes.</li>\n<li>Flexibility to engage with people in the times and places that suit them best — including evenings and weekends.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>What We Offer</strong></p>\n<ul>\n<li>A supportive team grounded in trauma-informed and restorative practice.</li>\n<li>A genuine opportunity to lead meaningful co-production with children, young people and families.</li>\n<li>Access to high-quality training, reflective supervision and peer support networks.</li>\n<li>A culture that welcomes innovation, listening and learning.</li>\n<li>Flexible working arrangements to support a healthy work-life balance.</li>\n</ul>\n<p><strong>Your Impact</strong></p>\n<p>This role will help unlock the power of lived experience across Sefton — supporting children, young people and families to challenge systems, lead conversations, shape training, and build a better future with us.
