    About the role

We're looking for an experienced Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Community Therapy Service, supporting adults to maximise their independence, wellbeing and quality of life. In this rewarding role, you'll work directly with people in their homes and communities, carrying out specialist assessments, developing tailored interventions, recommending equipment and adaptations, and helping individuals remain safe, independent and connected to the things that matter most to them.

    Additional information

Make a real difference in your community.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you'll collaborate with health and social care professionals, support and mentor colleagues, and contribute to the ongoing development of a high-quality, person-centred service.

You will be a qualified Occupational Therapist with HCPC registration and substantial experience within adult community services. You'll have a strong background in supporting adults with complex, chronic and deteriorating physical conditions, alongside experience in reablement, rehabilitation and short-term, goal-focused interventions.

Confident in undertaking assessments of people, and will have experience recommending specialist equipment and minor and major adaptations to support independence. You'll also have the ability to supervise and develop therapy support staff, while demonstrating excellent communication and interpersonal skills when working with residents, families and partner organisations.

A sound understanding of the Care Act, Health and Safety legislation and Occupational Therapy best practice is essential, along with a commitment to ongoing Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Due to the nature of the role, a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle, or suitable transport, is required to travel throughout Northamptonshire.

In addition, we'd welcome candidates who have experience teaching, coaching or training health and social care professionals, as well as those who have been involved in research, audit activity, service improvement projects, conferences or professional therapy groups. Experience contributing to the development of services and driving quality improvements would be highly valued, helping us continue to enhance outcomes for residents and deliver an innovative, high-quality community therapy service.

    This is a fixed-term role until 22 July 2027.

Unfortunately, West Northamptonshire Council is unable to offer sponsorship for this role. Applicants must have the right to work in the UK at the time of application.

This post is subject to an Enhanced DBS check, including Children and Adults Barred List checks. West Northamptonshire Council is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and expects all employees and volunteers to share this commitment.

Please note: We may close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of applications, so early applications are encouraged
