All of the mainstream maintained schools and academies in the Borough currently commission EP support from the Service. This enables – alongside statutory and other Local Authority core work – EP contribution to SEN Support level assessment and consultation, organisational support and intervention, and community-based projects. Members of the team each link with a relatively small number of schools and other settings, with scope to provide a range of support within them. There remains a healthy balance of pre-statutory and preventative work, alongside a statutory role. We are always developing our practice, and recently have been strengthening our work as a Service in meeting the Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs of children and young people in Harrow. This has included ELSA delivery, and work around Emotional Based School Non Attendance. As a Service, we are actively contributing to aspects of the Local Authority’s SEND Strategy, including developing Ordinarily Available Provision guidance.We are a very positive, supportive and reflective team, which values individual strengths and interests as well as promoting team working and peer supervision.
