TEACHING ASSISTANT ADVERT
About the Role
Acton CE Primary Academy is looking to appoint a new member of staff. The staff member would be part of a team in a class where there are children with additional needs – some time would be supporting these children specifically. We welcome applicants with any level of experience, including those looking to develop their skills within a supportive and inclusive school environment.
The role would begin as soon as possible in the Spring Term 2026 and is temporary, in the first instance, for the remainder of this academic year. We would welcome someone with experience of working in a primary school setting and with children with specific educational needs. However, key considerations are that we appoint a person who is caring, kind and can form strong relationships with individual children. Being a team player is something that is important. Furthermore, we would like someone who can ensure a calm and positive approach, has excellent verbal communication skills and who can create stimulating and learning opportunities.

Job Description (Teaching Assistant)
This teaching assistant role is an excellent opportunity to make a real difference in our children's education, drawing on your commitment to developing pupil learning ability and knowledge accessibility. Working closely with class teachers you will be helping pupils to expand their knowledge and play a positive role in school life. You will utilise your knowledge, communication skills and creativity to help pupils understand the information presented.
Your duties as a teaching assistant will include:
<ul>
<li>Supervise and provide learning support for pupils with special educational needs.</li>
<li>Assist with the development of individual education and behavioural plans setting challenging expectations for pupils to achieve learning goals.</li>
<li>Establish trusting relationships with pupils and interact with them according to individual needs and personalities.</li>
<li>Encourage pupils to interact with the class and engage in activities.</li>
<li>Provide feedback to pupils and teachers on pupil's achievement, progress and any problems that arise.</li>
<li>Create and maintain an orderly and supportive environment, undertaking administrative tasks as needed.</li>
<li>Promote good pupil conduct encouraging pupils to take responsibility for their behaviour.</li>
<li>Support the use of technology in learning and develop pupils' competence and independence in its use.</li>
<li>Prepare resources required for learning activities and assist pupils in their use.</li>
<li>Uphold policies and procedures relating to child protection, safeguarding and data protection.</li>
</ul>
Acton CE Primary Academy places the highest priority on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The holder of this post will be required to work with children under the age of 18 in a position of trust, and is, therefore, exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
