Role Introduction

Are you an experienced Pharmacy Technician ready to take the next step into Leadership? Are you passionate improving medicines safety, developing services and supporting clinical team to deliver outstanding care?

We are seeking an exceptional Lead Pharmacy Technician to provide professional leadership for medicines management across our Secure Estates Healthcare Services.

This is a unique opportunity to shape and develop pharmacy practice within a challenging and rewarding environment, working alongside pharmacy technicians, nurses, GPs, operational and clinical leaders to ensure safe and efficient use of medicines.

As a Registered Clinician across Wetherby YOI, Adel Beck and Aldine House, you’ll support vulnerable young people in varied, challenging and rewarding work. We collaborate with key partners, including the prison, education teams, social workers, the Youth Offending Service and the Looked After Children’s team to ensure the highest standard of care.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, self‑motivated Registered Pharmacy Technician to join our Primary Healthcare Team across our secure estates, supporting highly vulnerable and complex young people.

The role suits someone ready for a new challenge, keen to contribute to service development, and confident working within a multidisciplinary team. If you want to grow your skills in a setting where no two days are the same, this is an excellent opportunity.

As a Lead Pharmacy Technician, you will help deliver a safe, legal and high‑quality prison pharmacy service. Duties include: -

  • Lead and coordinate the Pharmacy Technician workforce across secure estates
  • Provide expert advice on medicines management, medicines optimisation and medicines governance.
  • Lead on the safe management of medicines, including controlled drugs, storage, security and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop, implement and monitor medicines management policies, procedures and standard operating procedures.
  • Lead medicines-related incidents, identify trends and implement learning to improve patient safety.
  • Work collaboratively with pharmacists, healthcare teams, commissioners and partners to continually improve pharmacy services
  • Provide professional supervision, coaching and development for Pharmacy Technicians.
  • Support workforce planning, recruitment and induction of Pharmacy Staff.

The Pharmacy Technician team operates from 07:30 to 20:30, seven days a week, across 13 shifts in each 28‑day period.
