These roles are essential in the GLAA’s approach to tackling Modern Slavery (Forced or Compulsory Labour) and Labour Exploitation in order to protect some of the most vulnerable victims in the UK.</p><p><strong>About the GLAA</strong></p><p>At the Gangmasters and Labour Abuse Authority (GLAA), we provide exceptional service to the public, businesses, and workers in the fight to stop worker exploitation. The GLAA ensures that workers in the UK are treated fairly, properly and are protected from abuse and exploitation. We have three core functions:</p><ul><li><strong>Regulation</strong> - We regulate businesses that provide workers to the horticulture, agriculture, shellfish gathering and food processing and packaging sector. Our regulatory work includes operating a licencing scheme, undertaking inspections to ensure compliance with that scheme, and taking enforcement action where there are breaches.</li><li><strong>Prevention</strong> – We work with a broad range of stakeholders locally, nationally, and internationally to help prevent workers from being exploited.</li><li><strong>Enforcement</strong> - We investigate allegations of worker abuse under the Modern Slavery Act 2015. GLAA Officers conduct civil and criminal investigations and take enforcement action, including prosecutions and court orders to disrupt criminal activity. We also support victims who have been abused, in particular by ensuring they can access specialist help from our partners.</li></ul><h4>Job description</h4><p>Reporting to an Investigations Manager the postholder will be expected to professionally investigate allegations of Modern Slavery, Labour Exploitation, and other relevant Labour Market offences and in doing so protect and safeguard individuals exposed to these risks. The postholder will lead investigations from the reporting stage through to successful court proceedings by providing credible investigative expertise to protect vulnerable workers and prevent exploitation. Safeguarding and provision of care and support to potentially vulnerable and exploited workers will be required. </p><p>The role holder is responsible for: </p><ul><li>Conducting and taking responsibility for criminal investigations under the Gangmasters Licensing Act 2004 and the Modern Slavery Act 2015 </li><li>Carrying out risk assessments for victims and potential victims of exploitation, identify immediate risk to victims and where necessary take appropriate action to safeguard individuals.</li><li>Undertaking witness and suspect interviews in line with PACE and associated procedures in relation to investigations that could include serious and complex crime.</li><li>Performing lawful arrest and process of suspects for exploitation related criminality in line with PACE.</li><li>Maintaining personal responsibility for all aspects of file preparation including gathering, recording, storing, accessing, and sharing of evidence in compliance with organisational procedures, codes of practice and legislation.</li><li>Ensuring that all evidence and exhibits are properly recorded and stored, and that the continuity and integrity of that evidence is always maintained by GLAA personnel. <h4>Job summary</h4><p>The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) is a new arm’s-length body set up, at unprecedented pace, to administer compensation to people whose lives have been impacted by the infected blood scandal.</p><p>IBCA will ensure payment is made in recognition of the wrongs experienced by those who have been infected by HIV, Hepatitis B or C, as well as those who love and care for them. When IBCA’s work begins to wind down, IBCA employees will receive support and practical guidance to find a new role, whether in the Civil Service, another Arms Length Body (ALB), or an external employer.</p><br><h4>Job description</h4><p>The Infected Blood Compensation Authority (IBCA) seeks a passionate highly analytical and detail-oriented intelligence analyst who can contribute to the business intelligence capabilities of IBCA, driving better transparency and decision making in the interest of victims of infected blood.</p><p>IBCA is responsible for delivering a compensation scheme that has been long awaited by the infected blood community to provide financial compensation to victims of infected blood on a UK-wide basis.
