We are seeking within the Children in Care Service, a social Care officer who are passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families. The ideal candidate will embody the following qualities:

  • Support social workers with assessments and interventions for vulnerable children and families.
  • Assist with specialist tasks such as chronologies, genograms, life‑story work, and direct work with children.
  • Contribute to home visits alongside social workers and help complete case closure tasks.
  • Liaise with partner agencies to gather information for assessments and safeguarding enquiries.
  • Support the development of multi‑agency safeguarding plans by analysing and sharing relevant information.
  • Take accurate minutes for key meetings (CIN, CGM, PLO, strategy meetings, etc.).
  • Maintain high‑quality, timely, and accurate case records in line with statutory requirements.
  • Handle enquiries from families and professionals sensitively and professionally.
  • Organise service meetings, diaries, venues, and follow‑up processes to ensure smooth service operations.
  • Manage onboarding tasks for new staff and support recruitment activities.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for small projects and service requests where relevant.
  • Maintain data accuracy on systems such as Azeus, including entering service requests and updating records.
  • Ensure compliance with safeguarding, health and safety, equality, and diversity standards.
  • Support with practical arrangements such as bookings, ordering supplies, and managing documentation.
  • Coordinate, facilitate and where relevant supervise contact arrangements for children and families and record outcomes.
  • Undertake tasks as a family support worker in supporting children and their parents/carers within their homes or in the communities.

About us

The London Borough of Newham is located only 5 miles east of London. It is well positioned with access to all major networks in London and the south east. It is well connected by public transport with, bus, tube and DLR. When the Crossrail service opens it will call at Custom House close to our council offices and also Stratford station and from there to central London.
