Our values are simply: We Care, We Do the Right Thing, We Strive to Be Better Every Day, We Are One BTP, and We Are Proud to Protect. Join us and help create an environment where we can all be our best every day.

The Opportunity:

The Technology Department is recruiting for a Digital Workplace Architect to design and deliver intelligent, automated, and user-centric digital workplace solutions that enhance productivity, collaboration, and operational effectiveness across the force. You’ll drive the architectural design of workplace services - leveraging AI, automation, and modern digital platforms - to make our tools smarter, faster, and easier to use. From streamlining workflows to embedding intelligent assistants, your work will directly support frontline policing and public safety.

What you'll be doing:

  • Lead the design, governance, and evolution of digital workplace and business solutions.
  • Translate business requirements into scalable, secure, and user-centred solution architectures.
  • Drive the adoption of Microsoft technologies, AI, agentic AI, automation, and cloud services to improve business outcomes.
  • Provide architectural leadership throughout the delivery lifecycle, supporting implementation teams and ensuring successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, technical teams, and suppliers to align solutions with strategic objectives.
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend innovations that enhance user experience and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure solutions comply with security, accessibility, governance, and regulatory requirements.
  • Champion best practice architecture principles, standards, and design patterns.
  • Simplify complex technical challenges into clear, practical solutions for stakeholders.

What you'll bring to the team:

  • Proven experience as a Solution Architect delivering enterprise-scale technology solutions.
  • Strong expertise in solution architecture, systems integration, and cloud-based technologies.
  • TOGAF certification or equivalent architecture framework experience.
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure, Power Platform, and related Microsoft technologies.
  • Experience designing and implementing AI, agentic AI, AI Agent, automation, RPA, and intelligent workflow solutions, using technologies such as Microsoft Copilot, Copilot Studio, Power Platform, Azure AI, and Robotic Process Automation (RPA).
  • Strong understanding of AI, agentic systems, security, identity, governance, and compliance principles.
  • Experience working across business and technical teams to shape and deliver complex solutions.
  • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on technical involvement.
  • Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to simplify complexity.
  • A user-focused approach with a passion for delivering intuitive and effective digital experiences.

What we offer:

  • 28 days annual leave plus bank holidays, increasing to 30 days after 5 years.
  • Family-friendly policies, including up to 26 weeks paid maternity and adoption leave.
  • Bespoke benefits platform and Blue Light Card access.
  • Salary sacrifice options for cycles, home technology, gym membership, and electric vehicles.
  • Interest-free annual rail season ticket loan after 6 months. (Remove if FTC)
  • Access to the Transport Benevolent Fund for health, welfare, and financial support.
  • Development opportunities, including fully funded apprenticeships.
  • Excellent Pension scheme: We offer the BTP GPP Police Staff Pension Scheme, administered by Royal London. This group personal pension plan is available to all police staff and is a defined contribution scheme. It provides the flexibility to vary your pension contributions from 4.4% to 12% of your salary. For more information, visit the Royal London dedicated pension page or email us at Pension-Queries@btp.police.uk. Note: If you are an existing member of Police Staff in the RPS, your pension will not be affected.
