About the Service:

Wirral EP Service is a forward thinking and supportive team of skilled practitioners united by shared values and a strong commitment to inclusive practice. Our work is underpinned by positive psychology, consultation, and solution-focused approaches, enabling us to deliver high-quality, impactful support.

This is an exciting time to join us. As a growing service, we are expanding and innovating, with opportunities to influence future developments. We actively promote inclusive practice through a range of initiatives, including:

  • The Neuroinclusive Education Network
  • Emotional Literacy Support (ELSA)
  • Emotional Barriers to School Attendance work
  • Innovative approaches such as the AV1 robot programme

As a Local Authority EP service, we will play a central role in delivering the ‘Experts at Hand’ model, helping to improve outcomes for CYP and their families. Our team includes EPs, trainee EPs and Assistant EPs, all working collaboratively within a culture of support and professional growth.

About the Candidate:

We welcome applications from qualified EPs and Trainee EPs (Years 2 or 3 of doctoral training).

In this role, you will:

  • Deliver high-quality psychological services to CYP aged 0–25 across diverse settings
  • Provide psychological advice to the Local Authority
  • Offer consultation to schools or settings to improve outcomes for CYP
  • Contribute to inclusive practice and service development
  • Support inclusion by collaborating with other services and agencies.
  • Contribute to the delivery of SEND reforms and the ‘Expert at Hand’ programme
  • Participate in and deliver the EP service’s training offer
  • Supervise and support Assistant EPs and ELSA colleagues
  • Support the development of Trainee EPs in partnership with universities

What You’ll Need to be Successful When Applying to Wirral

We are looking for enthusiastic and committed professionals who:

  • Thrive in collaborative environments and are passionate about service development
  • Hold a recognised postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology
  • Are registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
  • Have a sound understanding of SEND legislation, safeguarding, and statutory
