About the Service and Team

Our Business Support Officer roles sit in our Customer Fulfilment Service in our Residents and Communities Directorate. Customer Fulfilment brings together the contact, processing and care elements of a customer's journey into one centralised service.

The Residents and Communities directorate vision is working together to support residents and communities to live their best lives in Kingston. To do this the Council needs employees who thrive in an agile and networked organisation and who can support continuous improvement within a constructive organisational culture.

As a council, we are high performing and ambitious, and on top of that we are top rated across some of our services such as Social Care. We have also won a number of awards and accolades that acknowledge our improvements in the following areas: senior leadership, workforce transformation, our work on Cambridge Road Estate and more recently our Community Safety team won an award at the LGC Awards for our work on the our Ending Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy.

About the Role and Our Ideal Candidate

About the role

We currently have two vacancies for full time Business Support Officers supporting our Green Spaces and Planning services. These roles are both fixed term contracts for one year.

As an integral member of the team, you will manage a diverse range of administrative responsibilities essential to our daily service delivery, including:

  • Green Spaces: Focuses on financial management (processing invoices, POs, and suppliers), managing service requests with contractors, overseeing team inbox communications, and providing meeting administrative support
  • Planning: Includes inbox management, administering planning appeals, advising the public and applicants on application processes, and organising documentation for Planning Committees
